This is something I came across a while ago and want to share. I looked everywhere to see if this was already known, but found nothing, otherwise wouldn’t have mentioned it. Here goes…
When the E3 trailer was released I looked back over the cortana letters for any links to the video.
When the letters came out everyone read into the ‘Little girl lost’ poem by William Blake and generally got very excited about it. While reading the poem I found out about another poem called ‘little boy lost’. I thought that there might be some connection to the master chief. If cortana is the little girl lost, could john be the little boy lost? I found no links to john, but did notice one halo connection.
The last three verses sound exactly like the cut scene “The heretic” from halo 2. I wouldn’t have noticed this back when the letters were released(before halo CE). It seems as though Bungie have gone back and deliberately tied this part of halo 2 to the letters.
"Nought loves another as itself,
Nor venerates another so,
Nor is it possible to thought
A greater than itself to know.
"And, father, how can I love you
Or any of my brothers more?
I love you like the little bird
That picks up crumbs around the door."
The Priest sat by and heard the child;
In trembling zeal he seized his hair,
He led him by his little coat,
And all admired the priestly care.
And standing on the altar high,
"Lo, what a fiend is here! said he:
"One who sets reason up for judge
Of our most holy mystery."
The weeping child could not be heard,
The weeping parents wept in vain:
They stripped him to his little shirt,
And bound him in an iron chain,
And burned him in a holy place
Where many had been burned before;
The weeping parents wept in vain.
Are such thing done on Albion's shore?
If this is old news, I apologise for wasting time. But if it isn’t I want to know a couple of things;
A. am I the first to notice this?
B. could there be other plot details that were drawn from old texts?(possibly more Blake)
