I should start copy+pasting whatever you say into notepad for future reference--this information comes in handy.
Long time experience has taught me that people generally don't read stickies first, don't perform searches first or look in the troubleshooting sections before asking questions in a forum. Many have either not been taught how to search for answers or use the various tools the web has to offer because they are young, just impatient or just lazy. Some just don’t or have never been taught or forced to think it through before. It runs the full gamut.
When I see the same basic questions over and over instead of being annoyed or derogatory, after all I can’t change people, I just add it to the little FAQ I keep in a text file on my desktop. Since I archive the answers to many common things about the games at the Halo Maps website it is relatively easy to keep the "forum" FAQ up-to-date and ready to cut and paste.
By supplying links to the answers instead of the answers themselves it forces people to learn how to do some basic research and since I offer it without comment, although I many times want comment in the worst way, there is no forum drama.
