I've been starting to hate halo 2 MM. why? lag, look at this game , i was on fire, and then i lag out, and then i derank and people think i quit. and speak of the devil, i just tried another game, and lo and behold, i lag out again. sometimes its a full lag out where the screen comes up and says you are disconnected from xbox live, and sometimes it says everyone quits.... if you look at most of my games, its lag out games, or really laggy games.... its horrible, and i have no idea what to do about it....

also, if you look at the game i posted, it says i got a classified kill.... i know what it is, it was an energy core, but why would the call it classified?

I used to have the same problem. I would normally quit. We were doing a team ball game, and a guy threw the ball and it ended up at the other side of the map and then we lost by one second....... It might be because of there connection that can ruin yours or just your connection.

My last thread: Why Reach Sucks

your connection sucks, and you're playing low levels with people who probably dont have a good history logged of their hosting capacity. So crappy connections may get host. but if it says you're disconnected from xbox live, thats all you. It nothing to do with the other players.

i don't think its the ethernet cord... i've swaped them between the computer and the 360 to make sure of that.... some games, its a flawless connection, but then i randomly lag out.... its sucky, and thats about the gist of it.... any other ideas?

my connection goes through a modem, a VoIP, a router, and finally goes to 2 desktops, 2 wireless computers, and the 360.... that may be the main problem, so im thinking that getting a new modem with better upstream and downstream capabilities will fix it.... i think the main problem is the VoIP box, cause ever since we got vonage, the connection has been horrible

RIP Halo 2.

Call your ISP. I had about 6 months where I'd lose my internet connection in 5-10 second bursts several times a day. Comcast blamed every possible component in my house instead of accepting responsibility. First my router and modem took the blame. They were temporarily replaced and it made no difference. Then they blamed my ethernet cable. New cable made no difference. Then they decided to tell me it was my coaxial cable and that it was even giving bad signal feedback that was damaging other people's connection and made us pay to have the house rewired. It made no difference whatsoever for signal quality and they refunded our money. After enough complaining, arguing, and multiple visits to my house, they finally determined it was something with my area (couple blocks) having connection issues. It took a lot more complaining from multiple people to get them to actually fix it.

In summary, Comcast blows at pretty much everything. Hopefully you don't have Comcast and your ISP will be more accommodating.

I have charter, and they seem to be reliable.... I've called them twice to replace our modem seeing that we can trade it in for another one, but they never follow through with that, so im debating to just go out and buy one, or buy a better plan... idk, but with the rate things are going, halo 2 isn't that fun.... when the beta was out, i had flawless connections the whole time, but with H2, its unbearable

i tried that this morning, i disconnected everything from the router, and only had the xbox plugged in. connection was decent, but it still lagged me out. i plugged directly into the modem, and i got a flawless connection.... i tried with the VoIP box plugged in with the xbox plugged in, and connection still sucked..... im thinking of upgrading from a 3M connection to a 5M connection, or maybe just getting a new router....

Dammn, sorry to hear that man. Well, glad to see you got it fixed, your host = amazing

Hey p0t3t0 have you tried opening your NaT on your router? If you have it set to strict, it may limit a lot of what you can do in terms of online gaming.

You should not blame Halo 2 Matchmaking for your problem, because the issue is most likely related to your connection and internet service provider. A good start would be to reset your modem and/or router before you sign into Xbox Live, which will make sure that you have received all updates limiting you to any "bug" issues. Next, make sure that your Windows Fire Wall is set to medium or low when playing Halo 2 to allow better connection. I can tell that when you are host, the connection is balanced, but when you are not you have trouble adapting to the other users' connection. Having your firewall on high will cause your computer to prevent or prolong messages being sent from your console to the host's console, causing "lag" and sometimes results in being disconnected. Refer to this thread here to answer common questions about servers.

If the problem persists it is not because of a "bug" or firewall problem, but rather an issue with your console internally or your internet service provider. You may attempt to repair your internet connection here, but I highly recommend contacting your service provider if it continues or contacting the Xbox Live Technical Support Team here. If you have an inquiry about connecting properly to Xbox Live, which i am sure that is not the case, but regardless you may visit this link here.

Have you tried connecting directly to the modem? This will tell you if the problem is on your network, or is your ISP's fault.

PRJ since1990 is my Gamertag. Let's play

check everything. the cord, a router if youre using one, make sure no one else is on the internet while youre playing. if its not on your end, then its somebody elses connection and u cant do anything about it. might want to warn your team that you might lag out so that they dont think youre a deranking jerk

Ya really, you need to slow down with the computers and stuff. I recommend only using one or two computers at once. If you have 3 computers online, then you're basically screwed.

I just checked the NAT on my router, and its enabled.... my problem is obviously hardware because its not my ISP, its not the 360, so its been whittled down to the VoIP and the router.... i've been thinking of getting a new one, its a Linksys BEFW11S4, pretty old, so i'm hoping its just that... thanks a lot guys, even though the problem isn't solved, you've been a great help
