Another thing that complicates pro gaming is the fact that you gotta stay with the times. H3 may be viable for 2-4 more years after its release, and then it'll be moving on to another game. If you can't keep the same level of skill across multiple games, let alone games in multiple genres, your goose might be cooked sooner than you want.

Normally I've seen alot of people who think H2 is more of a sport. ( I Havent against pro's ) But some say, they need alot of rest. Or They need something to eat before a big game?. Or a warm up game. Now, the warm up game said That he needed a warm up before he started a Team Hardcore Game, and he was winning by 10 kills. I just think that people get a little serious about playing a Videogame. I do believe that Pro Circuits are important to a whole bunch of people but, I think there going to far......... What do you think?

Amen brotha amen!

MLG is for fat kids that don't wanna see the real world, every day so much goes on SO much but those kids are locked inside thier houses missing all the fun for a xbox game that they can play on a rainy day!! kids like that are going to have a tough time functioning in society because all they did was play MLG lockout of match making a w/e those MLG kids do

navillus 13 is correct. I am In the Hvac business but I guess thats a sport now. I also have to stand to pee, also a sport now. These so called athletes probably get winded going to the mail box.

Please, if you have no clue what you're actually talking about, please don't.

What's the difference between those things and MLG, MLG is a competition. That's what sport is IMO, a competition.

Last I checked, MLG players actually have lives outside of video games, I love ignorant people like you, who only have the mental capacity to stereotype. The 'winded going to the mail box" line, clever. Good try.

Please, leave. I like having discussion with someone like Navillus, who makes sense, and makes valid points. Idiots like you, just ruin this thread.

oh your right... you have to wiggle your winkie around sometimes to get it all out, that requires alot of skill and physical power so it is indeed a sport.

Physical power? When did physical power become a requirement for sports, or athletes. Kevin Durant can't even bench 185, meaning he severely lacks in physical power, but his finess skills and height make him a great basketball player. Being able to outthink, out play, outstrafe, out aim, make clutch plays, communicate, and outprepare your opponents are all skill based aspects of Halo.

Yes, these are skills. But sewing and knitting are also skills. Painting is a skill, requiring finesse, and quite a bit of manual dexterity. Hell, opera requires a lot of muscular control, and bodily discipline. Yet, these are not sports. I surmise that the line cannot be easily defined. I don't think billiards is a sport, it's a game. Bowling and golf are both games in my mind, not true sports. Perhaps the line should be drawn to include those three however. What I can tell you is that if playing a video game makes one an athlete, then the line has become meaningless. If you don't implicitly understand this concept as an intuitive matter, then there's really nothing I or anyone else can do for you. :/

  • 06.21.2007 9:09 PM PDT

All I want to know now, is where the line is drawn. What competition is a sport, and which type of competition is not.

No but think about...... Imagine if they Sudoku as a sport. Like Little kids would be proffesional math gamers.

He was replying to someone's definition of sport. Which is why he said that. I don't see how you could of missed that.

Playing video games doesn't make you an athlete.

Go to MLGpro.com. Look at the pro section. Tell me how many of them are kids and then tell me how many of them are far. Thanks!

m not saying your bad, but if you are good, you cant just turn your xbox on and be at the top of your game without freshening up your BR. Also, as Sunshine Giovanni said from last years Circuit. "Its not a video game, its a competetive sport, these guys are a new brand of athelete"

What are you Talking about!? The only athletic thing that your doing is your fingers!!

Main Entry: ath·lete
Pronunciation: 'ath-"lEt, ÷'a-th&-"lEt
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Latin athleta, from Greek athlEtEs, from athlein to contend for a prize, from athlon prize, contest
: a person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina

How does a video game not fall under the definition of athlete?

Uh.. which video takes physical strength, agility, and stamina... besides Dance Dance Revolution.

Somebody can't read. Physical strength, agility or stamina. There's a difference.

Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get... but you can bet it will be chocolate.

Some of you say that halo 2 is just a past time for you. Well playing football wiht the kids on my block is a past time for me... does that mean that the football can't be professonal just because its my past time. NO! To you its a past time, to others its their whole life. Competitions for money and recognition, teams, fans, being aired on television, replays, announcers...its all there. You take a game of halo, put it next to a game of foot ball and whats the difference besides the fact one is physical and one is virtual. Almost nothing besides the object of the game. Both involve the same quick thinking and team work. No where does it say that a sport has to be physical. The main reason it hasnt been accepted by most people is becaues its a new thing.

You are kidding right? Since you were so quick to point out a word difference, why don't you answer how its SO different.
"Oh man physical strength AND stamina! that leik FOOTBALL!... but Physical strength OR stamina... thats leik taking a dump!"

You just proved my point. "whats the difference besides one is physical and one is virtual" THAT IS THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE!!

Thats like saying.. "whats the difference between an apple and a corvette... besides the fact that one is a car and one is a fruit".. or even a better example... whats the difference between getting laid and playing a virtual -blam!- game.. apparently nothing to you.

Skills make a person an athlete. Athletes make a sport. A sport is a competition that people compete with each other in, usually for a prize or something like that. Knitting, paining and opera are not sports, they are ARTS. The reason they are arts is because they do indeed take a certian amount of dexterity and skill do do but there isnt a competeition there.
If a painter or opera singer decided to see who was the best at their particular craft and started a competition, then yes it would be a sport. You people are still trying to say that anything that you make money at and do well is a sport....its not. There is a difference between your occupation or craft and a sport. Virtually any craft or occupation can be turned into a sport but its only a craft or occupation until you take that extra step and create the competition.

MLG is not a sport gamming is not a sport. Just because some fat ass opened photoshop and added a controller to a red and blue backround does NOT make it a sport!! you really wanna play sports? go play football or baseball or skate but all this "gamming is a sport bull -blam!- "is retarded you're only saying it's a sport so you don't look bad.

Halo was MAD fun before all this MLG bxr bxb bull -blam!- came out I just hope halo 3 doesn't have wak jobs that a are mentaly confused on what's a sport and what's not

Bungie do us ALL a big favor remove the battle rifle from H3 that way it will seem more like halo.

when i bought halo I wanted to play HALO you know slayer, CTF, king of the kill, assult but now everytime i join a game it's always on lockout MLG

if i wanted to buy MLG(rated W-waste of my fuking time) i woud have bought that instead of halo
