BTW, Iceman telling oyu to chill out, and not Brock, is not hypocritical. maybe selective, or unfair, but not hypocritical. Hypocritical would be telling you to not flame, and then going and flaming himself, or supporting flaming in this thread, he's done neither. Just because he said something to you, and not EVERYONE, doesn't mean you should go around and take shots at him, while he's done nothing offensive to you at all.
No...being hypocritical is not solely based upon telling someone to something and then doing it yourself. That's part of it. The part where Iceman is being hypocritical is that he is criticizing me for "tactless flaming" which demonstrates he's making a moral argument. However, since he is not applying that moral argument adequately across the board to all people, it is because of his selective comment to me, that he's being hypocritical.
Now, if he would have told me specifically to "chill out" and then made a general statement to everyone else, it wouldn't have been an issue. Not like any of this matters.
The point that I'll reiterate is that video games/MLG is not a legitimate sport. Neither is extreme dodgeball, ultimate frisbee, badminton, or golf (ok, that's a joke). As has been said before, there are other groups in the Halo community that do a lot of the same positive things that MLG does, but they don't have any of the negative. I mean, when is the last time you saw someone on the forums complaining about Real Custom Games (RCG)?
No, there is nothign saying he isn't applying that moral argument everywhere. If he would have said Brock's flaming was okay, but yours was bad, then that would be being a hypocrite. But he never condoned ANYONE flaming. Just because he didn't point out everyone, doesn't make him a hypocrite. You gopt the word right, selective, he singled you out, but he never said anyone else flaming was okay.
I would still ahve to disagree, although halo players aren't athletes, at the competitive level, I see gaming as a recreational sport equivalent to bass fishing.
