Bungie Announces New Dowloads: Playlists Minor Multi-Team, Major Mulit-Team

Bungie has announced that the first two new downloadable playlist are almost here. Both focus on team games with 3 or more teams, including up to 8 teams of two in a team slayer variety. In addition to team slayer the new playlists should focus more on teamball, juggernaut and slayer modes which Bungie indicates have gotten strong responses in forums and feedback from players.

Brendan Grier of bungie was quatoed as saying "I love Zanzibar. Helped design the damn thing. But if I play one more 1 flag CTF on Zanzibar I think I'll freak out".

The mulit-team playlist will allow for alot more action on similiar sized maps. "Rather than having 8 targets in a big team game, you might have as many as 14 with only one teammate to help you get the ball, get the kill or not get splatter by a dive bombing ghost".

Grier went on to say "Not only will it be an absolute blast, the multi-team game type is something uniquely Halo 2 when it comes to X-Box live FPS and really shows the flexability we built into of Halo 2's online capabilities".

Yeah it's not false per se. At least hopefully not. It's my The Onion/Daily Show news spoof kinda a way to get this idea out there.

I think a team slayer optimatch would be terrible. All the traffick would go there and the strategy and brilliance that Bungie painfully crafted into their multi-player maps would be lost forever. Just 10s of thousands of idiots camping and memorizing spawn points.

With a mulit-team playlist you could have alot more team slayer, perhaps even 1/3 of the games, and the maps would still be utilized because camping and weapon superiority would be minimized, alomst negated, by fact that so many teams are flying around the map. Your team camps, 1 of the other 7 teams will show up and wreck you. And the remaining juggernaut, king of the hill, team ball game types would keep the more dynamic strategies aspects alive and well.

As it is so many of the maps, especially the big team maps, are underutilized because everyone is in such a crazy rush to get to the objective point or are just plain out of the way. Mulit team slayer, odd ball, jugernaut, crazy king would encourage people to spread out and explore the map, because no matter how great the spot, 2 people can't hold it against 14.

Thus movement, strategy, tons of kills and a bad ass Halo 2 experience.
