Subject: Xbox 360 Wired controller problem for the PC

I have not been able to use my wired controller from my Xbox 360 on the PC. I used the wired controller before when it first came on to play Halo on the PC and it worked fine. After not having Halo PC on my computer for i while i decided to install it again. Not its installed and working fine but i cant get my Xbox 360 controller to work. I download the install application from microsoft and it installed fine. though now with that new controller status application added it cant find my controller. I loaded up halo and went to settings and i cant click the Gamepad option, its still grayed out. Anyone else having this problem and is there a solution. This is the Xbox 360 wired controller not the wireless one.

p.s. my computer detects the controller too. When i plug it in the ring of light flashes.

Are you on Xp or vista?

Try this

Right Click My computer

Click properties

(Depending on if your in vista or xp will depend on where device manager is)

Make your way to Device manager

Look for your 360 controller and hit uninstall

After that close device manager

Unplug your 360 controller and wait 15 seconds or untill you hear a sound.

Then plug it back in and see if it sets itself up and try it.

USB port might be dead? Try a different one?

I uninstalled it but it keeps being detected by my computer so my computer adds it to the list again but it doesn't fix the problem.
