Packet Bombing, basically from my knowledge and what people have told me it is when ( somehow ) a player sends "packets" to your computer ( A LOT OF THEM ) to jam your connection to lag you out. They can't lag the whole team out because the game doesn't count, I've found from experience witht these cheaters I love the new update because I almost never get cheated but if there any way to stop this Packet Bombing. This has been around for a while and I just had it lag me out on a Desolation Skirmish game. Cheating is at a low but still exists, is there any way to stop this?

EDIT : Packets are little bits of useless data.

I don't think there's a way to stop it, since packet bombing doesn't involve Xbox Live.

I know this has happened to me for sure because it is how many people are cheating these days. Thankfully it doesn't happen much so just grit your teeth and bear it.

I know it rarely happens but like bridging and modding, it spreads and people learn how to do it. I hope it doesn't become another 2 out of 6 games cheating.

You mean IP flooding? That's so sad to stoop so low as to do something very illegal to win a game.

i got a flaming helmet from Lukems girlfriend one time and i couldn't walk right for a week.

This is really a type of DoS. Denial of Service and has been in use a long time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack

I still know that no one is going to give this a second thought until it starts to happen a lot. ( Also note that you don't need host or anything to do it ).

Yeah IP Flooding is still around, same as bridging and standbying. You can't stop it.

I have not yet had a packet bomber, but I knew about them quite some time ago. It is not new, but it is becoming more common apperantly.

Do your enemies need host to do this?

And also, with the new update, what kind of cheating was stopped?

You don't need host or host boxes or anything. Just go in and get matched.

There is no way to stop IP flooding, or as you call it Packet-Bombing. There are two different ways to flood an IP. First is to do it from your computer as a DDOS or ICMP attack, which usually comes from the person's computer that is flooding you off. A way to stop that is iof you have a firewall you can look at the logs and figure out the IP that sent you all those packets. IP flooding is illegal so you can call your ISP up and tell them what happened and give them the IP. Your ISP will then call up that IP's ISP and hopefully shut down his internet privliges. Another attack is a BOT-net flood through a mIRC client. I'm not gonna get into specifics but this attack is extremely untraceable because of the fact is that the attack is probably coming from an anonamosly -hosted server.
