Wait... What exactly is this problem about? You said you were making a new GT, but you were trying to link your account to (I would assume) your previously made gamertag.

Also, you need XBL Gold to participate in Online Multiplayer Games. If you don't have Gold, you cannot participate in Halo 2's MatchMaking system (including H2Challenge, but I would assume you already knew all of this).

Yeah if you dont have gold, you prob cant do much with halo 2 and online. Also the original xbox(and emulation on 360) has no concept of silver memberships, you said its new from trial so if you created the tag and tis gold(its like that for 1 month) i dont think you can play xbox online with it.

I belive it just pertains to 360, and it seems in order to particpate in this challange you need a paid gold(since halo can only be played online with that)

Just my 2 cents, hope it helps. Also, check out xbox.com forums and do a search, there may be other ppl with this prob and you could find out what to do.

Please no group invites... I only play MLG customs and don't spend my time wasting it on groups, clans or any other internet social crap.

Apparently you didn't read the terms of service very well.

YOU MUST HAVE GOLD MEMBERSHIP, to be able to enter ANY offical Xbox based tournaments. It's not a scam, it's nothing more then making you fully accept the charges that will appear AFTER your trial. It's done that way so you can't have multiple names in a tournament unless you want to pay a subscription price for each.

What really is the problem? They make you have a gold account... not suppose to be able to use trial names, could use trial names in the BETA either.
