This has nothing to do with the new maps. A friend with a 360 got the red eye and had his 360 replaced. When he tries to re-download all the old free maps it keeps failing and gives him a corrupted error message. This happens every day. This seems to be a major issue and I am wondering why the big B hasn't owned up to the issues and either offered a fix or said we don't know or don't care cuz it's halo 2 not 3. I see the post about the new maps is stickied, and nowhere on bungie.net do I find bungie offering any words of incouragement. I'm waiting for today's update to see what they have to say, if anything, about this.

He has done all the "fixes" he could try. Spoke with MS @ 4myxbox a number of times, did the maintenace thing, cleared his cash, erased and tries tries again to no avail. This should not be a ccard issue as they cost nothing...

If anyonoe else has a clue let us know, but I would appreciate it if a big B employee will speak up and give us all the 411.

This isn't Bungie's issue. It's the Xbox Team's issue. I've been able to download all the maps without a problem, as many other people have been able to do. If you want to complain, complain about the correct thing, it just makes you seem dumb.

That's nice of you to attack me, makes you seem like a jerk.

It's Bungie's game, Bungie should have a stake in it's problems, be it due to them or not. So because you haven't had a problem then this topic shouldn't matter, I see how you think, fairly self-centered. As far as complaining goes, I'm more looking for a solution, and venting just a tish. Keep your comments to yourself if you don't have anything useful to say, I say goodday to you.

Is his disk scratched. That can cause download problems. Also, I saw that you said he deleted everything. Does that mean the entire Halo 2 folder or just the old map packs?

Chillin' without a crush

It's an xbox live issue, not a Bungie issue.

Go whine at xbox.com.

What a jerk, go to hell. I'm going to start copying and pasting this. BTW, I think his hard drive is messed up, or maybe his connection (NAT)?

He's done both, just the maps, and then the entire game. It's a brand new xbox (replaced cuz of the red eye of death.)

Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX. They'll be able to give you the correct information you seek and possibly a solution to your downloading error.

Try a different hard drive if you have access to one. His Hard drive could be messed up. When he deleted the entire halo 2 folder, he had to DL the 1.5 update again right? Also Go to the system blade and run test connection to make sure that the NAT says open.

Think about how many other people have this problem. Do you really think the bungie team will just jump up to your aid. Bungie was hired to develop a game and thats all they really had to do. They never had to make new maps for us nor did the company that made the most recent maps. If your can't get the maps go through all your settings on your 360 and make sure you have the settings that allow you to have downloaded content. Call 1-800-4my-xbox and see if they can help you out. And relax a little, you seem really uptight about all this.

It's not my issue, it's my friends, so I'm not uptight at all. I was short with one poster (the same on twice) so you can take some of your own chill pills sir. And what part of spoke with 4myxbox a number of times did you not understand?

You said yourself about how many people having the same issue so it would not be jumping just to just his aid. I hope your car breaks down and the manufacturer says, ooo, too bad, all we had to do was make it.

All I think we deserve as consumers and part of this bungie community is a bit of an explanation and maybe a statement as to whether or not they are working to fix the problem. If it's their fault or not, they know about it and should address it in some way, shape, or form.

I posted this in hopes someone here has had the same problem and found a way to solve it. That info would be very helpful to a lot of ppl as the 4myxbox team doesn't have the answer. And maybe bungie would take the hint if enough ppl say hay, what gives.

I don't understand the compulsion for people who only have negative things to say to always put in their 2 cents, no one cares, keep it to yourself. I think thumper said it best "if you can't say sumpthin nice.... don't say nuthin at all...."

OK seriously, I'm trying to help you to the best of my ability. Help me Help you. You have answered one question. Now that I know he has no access to another Hard drive, Has he checked His NAT setting? Honestly if you get a corrupt download error every time you download them, that sounds like a bad Hard Drive. Is there any problem with any other games. Is he able to play campaign?

i have a problem that sounds much like your friends. everytime i log on it says the corruption error thing and i cant even play the playlists that do not require the new maps. so i think that he might be experiencing the same thing that i am. i too am waiting for an way to fix the problem. also xbox help has not been helpful to me ever. because 1. you have to listen to the competerized voice and talk to it rather than a real person for a while till you get the option to talk to a real person. 2.the person that tried to help me had a very strong (to the point it was difficult to understand) accent. 3. they have no clue how to help with problems that are not widely known. all the person does is search for the problem in a database or something like it, and just read what the screen says. the people talking to you generally do are not experts in the field they are giving help in. so unless the problem and solution is put in their database. they cannot offer help other than having you send the xbox in.
edit: my NAT setting is the default setting which has worked up until just recently. this may mean nothing but i just got my 360 back from being fixed for the 3 red lights. when you send it in to get fixed you do not send the hardrive in(which is where info, such as settings, is kept)

I'll ask him about the NAT (I don't know what that is) he had to do a bunch of button pushes one time when he spoke to 4mybox. I think he may send it back, again, and have it replaced, again...

He can play customs but not mtchmkng, and we play crimson skies that he had to redownload.

He keeps tellin me why I need a 360... erm... hehe Are the Elites haveing the same problem with red eye of doom and downloading and what not???
