like i said... WHY THE -blam!- WOULD I BE JEALOUS? when i have a real job, a beautiful girlfriend and a great social life OUTSIDE. what could be better than that? oh yeah, playing video games and being antisocial. yep you sure got me there.

1. what exactly makes playing video games for a living not a real job? actors use their skill to provide entertainment, they really dont do much besides travel, do what they love, and have fun, and ppl love it... wow, sounds like MLG to me

2. who says MLG players dont have lives? walshy was even able to start his own clothing company bc of MLG, and pros have been on countless television shows and debuts, so i would stop making assumptions and shut the -blam- up

Greatest of all time

Well sure not everyone will make a career out of gaming.

look at me for example, i've been playing video games since i was five (im 16 now). I remember the good old days of mario and OoT. Now games have come out that i can compete in. If i want to play video games for a living who are you to say it makes me lazy? I'm going to dallas for the mlg tournament for halo 2 ffa. Sure i might not win but who cares, it will be fun. If i do come in the top 8 and win money will i try again? Hell yea! If i don't win will i try again, maybe. But nonetheless i'm going there to see if i could possibly make a career out of gaming, and if i can, then thats freaking awesome!

And if i don't make it in professional gaming, then i'm already going to one of the top high schools in the country which can get me into almost any college i want so im set for life. Sure it will be difficult but im pretty smart so if i fail at becoming a pro gamer, i still have a good education.

WISH ME LUCK AT DALLAS FTW!!!!!

VcS Gun Shot is his actual account at the moment, there are alot of fb strongsides so it might not have been him, u never no

No. There is a poser with the account VCS Gun Shot, with the letter o. His actual account has a zero instead.

And Gun Shot isn't pro.

why dont i play video games for a couple days?? hmm.... maybe because it is BAD FOR YOU!! dont you guys get it? playing video games for a living is NOT good for you!! if you do REAL ACTUAL work in a REAL JOB, it is good for you. it gives you a sense of labor and a job well done, and on the other hands all video games give you is bad eye sight, 100 more pounds, and pimples.

you are SOOOOOOOOOOOO ignorant. Oh, so the only reason you aren't pro is because you don
t wnat to be, but if you wanted to be, you could just play all day and become pro, right? Stop being an idiot. Its insanely hard to become pro.

I once played with AKA Ogre 2. He was quite an ass in the post game lobby. I messeged him afterwards saying, "If this is not the actual Ogre 2, then I pity you, if it is, then I expected you to be more mature."

He messeged me back saying it is him, but that it had been a friend of his playing against me. I still have him on my friends list but he hasn't been on in months. I know it was him as he was constantly in games with AKA (some random "pro"). Regardless, I couldn't care less about him and seeing as it probally was him who talked such trash in the post game lobby (during the game I was constantly on the recieving end of button glitches), I have even less respect for all "pros" in general.

Who cares about pros? Wow, they suck at life and play video games. Horrible...

lol. amen. I've never played with a pro, but if I ever did, I'd probably get totally owned, because they play ALL day. I'd take a social life and a NORMAL paying job over NO social life and 250,000 any day.

No social life eh? Just because they spend more free time than others playing Halo 2, they have no social life? You're so right [sarcasm]

I geuss these kids miss the fact, that when you play halo2 as your job, you dont actually have to have a job. So if they play 3/4, or maybe even 5/6 hours a day, thats still a shorter work day than most people with real jobs. So wouldn't they have MORE free time?

So if you played FFA daily for that long, you could actually compete at MLG? If you deny that there's an actual natural talent associated with games, then you are just severely close-minded.

Yeah especially since he was playing with top talent so yeah I think if I played FFA exclusively, daily for 6 months or so I could compete at MLG. Not that far of a stretch.

Wait...so your saying someone who has never picked up a controller for Halo 2 but because he has "natural talent" could win an MLG without any practice?

Where did I say that? Obviously, practice is crucial. You need to actually develop your skill. Its like that in everything. Talent alone can't do it. If they had the natural talent, and put their mind toward becoming a pro, then they could.

do you ever just stop and listen to yourself? video games a sport, a job... please just listen to yourself.

Good argument. I see your debate skills are awesome. the sport discussion was in another thread. They are OBVIOUSLY a job.

job-a piece of work, esp. a specific task done as part of the routine of one's occupation or for an agreed price:

I'm pretty sure playing the game=specific task.

Contract=agreed price.

Just because there isn't hard manual labor, does not mean it isn't a job.

well good for him... i know i cant control how people want to live their lives but one of these days, you guys do have to face the fact that its up to you to make the right decision of what you are going to do for the rest of your life. and if you can play video games for the rest of your life, by all means go right ahead. but for those of you thinking to make a career out of video games, what if it doesnt happen? what do you do then? youve put all this time thinking you can make a profession out of a video game but you might not have stopped to think what to do if it doesnt work out. All im asking you guys is to just THINK before you assume your gonna make it as a "pro" video gamer. Like i said for those who are succeeding at making it a life career, good for you. but for others, PLEASE just please think. And i know its not up to me to make your decisions so ill back off...

Most halo 2 pros have outside jobs other than playing video games...and besides 1 of the oldest pros in MLG is like 22 or something...so most likely there jobs are working at Mcdonalds but then again they get paid $250,000 a year...plus promotions.
