Alright, this is the deal. My friend runs a small anual Tournament called Gamers for a Cure. Basically all money raised (yes, all) goes to purchasing toys for a children's hospital. Last year it was card games and table top games like Warhammer 40k, but this year he wants to include a Halo 2 tournament this year. Now I've run lan parties with friends, but nothing like this, so I was hoping for some feeback and what you've guys done before.
First of all, what prizes would you be interested in or get you motivated to play and win. This can't be a monetary prize because all proceeds go for the gifts for the hospital. We were thinking RvB DVDs and maybe pooling money for a Nightmare Armor helmet which I personally wouldn't mind winning. What do you guys suggest?
Secondly, we can't have team games because we can't have like four prizes for each team player and such, so it's only going to be games like free for all. Do you suggest 8 player matches or 16 player matches? Personally I think 8 is good because it wouldn't be as hectic and perhaps more skill might be required than 16 players all at once, but what do you guys think?
I really don't know how many people to expect, but I don't think you guys can help me with that unless you know the area, which you most likely wouldn't. I don't mean any offense at this, but I'm sure not many people would know of the area at all. We are trying to make online presign ups to get a rough idea to prepare, but that isn't up yet. This won't be until May, but we are trying to plan for it now.
So, do any of you have any answers or general suggestions about this? This is our first time with a Halo 2 tourney and we'd like to do it right. Any feedback is welcome ^.^
