I heard on some E3 interview that that was just a stand-in, it's not the final one.

Why would they take away the health bar?

They supposely took it out because of the way people played Halo 1. Shields pop, stop and wait for recharge. This is supposed to speed up the flow of the game. People have said it really doesn't change the way they play, just makes it faster paced. If you want a link I'll give it to you.

I like the idea of no health, because after your shields the bullets hit, well you. And i'd like to see chief stand up to three in the chest

Here you guys go:

http://opa-ages.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10241

Here is a quote:

"First, there are no longer health bars. (However, this like everything else design related, is still up for internal Bungie debate.) Instead, when your shields pop you can survive a further two or three hits before you die. In my hour of playing, I never noticed this change affecting how I played the game. In fact I dare say that if you weren’t looking for it, you’d never notice it yourself.

Marty O’Donnel explained to me that this change was discussed and implemented because of the way so many of us played Halo 1. Think about how whenever you got hurt, you’d slow down and wait for your shields to recharge. The only change to the shield system were the new special effects seen when they pop and reactivate. Both are visible in first person to you, and in third person to all the hungry sob's waiting to kill you."

This has been confirmed in other hands on and on these boards back when E3 was happening.

-blam!-, I never stopped and waited for my shields to recharge. Anything I got into was too fast paced for them to come back online.

It was a place holder, it's not the final product. They also removed health so people would get more kills in the short amout of time allowed.

They never said that. Read the FAQ for the status bar information. They also stated why they did not have a health bar while at E3

I actually think the shield gauge at the e3 show was actually very good, i loved how it looked, and i hope thats what it looks like during the final realease, makes it look very sleek

No health makes no sence cuz your MJOLNIR armor is like 5 inches of pure titanium and the marines dont have sheilds and they dont die on the first hit. I really think that no health would really really suck.... but i would still play as if nothing were different.

Again there is health, they just removed it at E3 because they were still redesiging the H.U.D, and they wanted the games to move with alot more action. Also, MJOLNIR is not titanium it's a refractive hella awsome alloy.

Are you stating that as fact or are you guessing? I agree that things could change, but it sounds like Bungie wants to toy with this idea. I talked to the guy who made that quote I posted. He said we should all beg Bungie to keep it this way because its great, more fast paced and doesn't change the way you play.

Honestly I think your shields are stronger this time around. Watch the demonstration and look how many bullets the elite takes when he dual weild kills him. Thats quite a bit.

Where did they talk about why they didn't have heath in E3? I just looked through the entire FAQ and saw nothing. If you have found something I haven't please share, but I have seen nothing like this, actually more so the opposite claiming bungie is toying with this for gameplay mechanics.

It says in the FAQ the health bar was just place holder, and in the IGN write up it says they said they removed it for the multiplayer so there would be more kills and more action in the short amount of time they had.

Can you show me the quote? All I see is:

"The HUD and most of the game UI shown at E3 this year were just place holder and are subject to change and revision between now and launch."

HUD != Health. There are many aspects of the HUD that could change which have nothing to do with the health system. For example right now when you dual wield you can't see ammo for your second gun. This will likely change. I'll have to look up that IGN quote for the exact wording. I read all the hands on and was very conscious about looking for things that dealt with the health system as it was important to. I never saw anything that confirmed anything about it on IGN.

I'm not trying to be offensive, but if you have direct proof that would be great. As it is now I've seen many editorials that said Bungie said they did it for gameplay reasons not specific to the demo. I agree things could change, but this does not seem to be a matter of incompleteness.

You know, you can use a tiny bit of logic to figure it out. It is not a matter of incompleteness, they did it to make the gameplay for fast paced.
