In the weekly update (which is what sparked this uproar) the dude said there had been a change, but he didn't say what it was. Now if hes mentioning this change now (it has just come back from testing), it means its different from the E3 version, which makes those people who have played the game at e3 just as clueless as the rest of us.

Despite being clueless, im not opinionless. Of course I'll wait and see, but if health is removed or masked in any way, it'll piss me off, because it seems to be a venture into the unecessary. Its shifting the focus of the gameplay. I rarely like FPSs, but the sheild/health system is what sold and hooked me on Halo. The strategy of it is just to perfect and unique to discard so late in the production of halo 2.

What's up with the HUD from the E3 build?

The HUD and most of the game UI shown at E3 this year were just place holder and are subject to change and revision between now and launch.

That was in the FAQs page, HUD = Heads Up Display, if you have read ANY of the books, HUD is anything that shows up on your visor, so in other words, ANYTHING that is on the screen, your HEALTH, ammo, and shield. So, everything that was shown at E3 as for health, ammo, and shield, are all going to change. They will have health people, dont worry about it... geez...

maybe they wont? how bout that? they did talk about it alot about this no health thing. what if this one thing doesnt change? you cant expect everything not to change. yeah i agree with you on the fact that its subject to change, but what if it doesnt? what if we are stuck like this, 3 shots after our small shield goes out and we are dead? whoever has the fastest weapon will win.

Alright, here's something that so far I haven't seen people talk about. While it is true that the HUD was just a placeholder and is subject to change, we must be aware of the following:

Although not found directly in the released E3 footage, other (bootleg) footage from E3 shows that the health bar wasn't removed from the HUD at all. It turns out that once the shield is depleted, then you can see the health bars. But once the shield fills up again, it covers over where the health bars were.

So it turns out that our beloved bars are not gone after all, just moved around a little.

Really? This is the first I've heard of this observation, I'll have to go take a look myself. I never thought of this option, but I think I really really like the idea. This way while you have shields you dont know your health, but as they have said it will slowly (much slower than shields) regenerate. I really like the thought of it disappearing until the shields are out, leaves much needed room for sight while dual wielding, too

Ok, I just checked some of the bootleg footage, and never once when someone's shield went out did I find a health bar anywhere, care to give a link to what you're talking about or explain where you saw it?
