Very much so, I mean, I'm an admitted stat-junkie but for me that's part of the fun, trying to rank up. Its like a whole other challenge/game in itself. Unfortunately, my other favorite FPS Rainbow Six Vegas' leaderboard site isn't as accurate or quick with posting updated standings. But I get on there on some casual stuff from time to time.

True enough, I've been there check my stats, sometimes I come in dead last. I actually won 1 Beta Rumble pit, but I can't prove it 'cause they removed the stats, other than that I was getting slaughtered, lol. There'll be other games, and what you have to remember is, there's no big rush...this game'll be around for a while and everyone has more than enough time to get better. Provided you don't tear-up your disc, lol.

I usually play for fun, my level 8 ranking in Skirmish is about as far as I go, I love Skirmish, I could play it all day, but sometimes it gets old being the only one or your team that gives a hoot. So I usually jump on BTB or Team Training and just have fun and try to get better..

i won my 1st one the other night. usualy i finish around the middle of the pack though...
rumble pits fun when ppl don't take it all seriously. like, come on u only have urself to blame in it(oh n its unranked guys so its not like it matters if u lose)...
oh unless ppl go in with a party and they just give all there kills to 1 of them and run around like its a team game not killing each other(what is up with that?? has that happened tp any1 else???)...

I don't play Halo 2 anymore. It revolves too much about stats and increasing those stats.

I play real games...you know. The ones you play for fun.

that reminds me of the other week actually...
we were playin team training(unranked but you'd swear it was somedays) team slayer on lockout. i went in by myself for some reason or another but anyway as soon as we were in pregame lobby this 1 guy(and his 2guest) started flaming me because of my GT callin me every name under the sun... i know i chose it and i have to put up with it, which i do most days. but these guys were talkin it to far(i wont repeat anything they said to me coz i don't want bungie to ban me)... so when we were split into team guess who i was paired up with, u guessed it this guy n his 2 guest... they shut up then but i'd had enough. as soon as the game stated, off the ledge i went, respawn, again, respawn, again. and that continued till the end of the match... that didn't make them much happier with me, but i did get a friends request from the other 4 guys on the other team. they were impressed that i stayed around for the match instead of quitin, and for teaching the others a lesson not to flame...

in post game lobby it weren't much better, so i made some smart bum comment about his GT and does that mean he's(what his GT is) he left then...
he could give it but couldn't take it... i thought it was funny anyway, but 2this day i still don't know y ppl flame over GT's? its a GT every1 that plays has 1, it dont mean what the GT says is true or what the
GT says is them...

Always, I don't play matchmaking and when I do I mess around (hence the reason i'm like level 13 or 14 in team slayer) I love to superbounce and get to new places in campagin/custom games (for fun, not in matchmaking). But normaly you can find me trying to get to a new place on headlong or termanal or trying to get the sarab gun in campagin.

it would be nice if people in unranked matches (or even ranked ones) were to take the game a little less seriously. I mean don't get me wrong, I am the type of player who every now and again would like to have a seroius match (when i have a good team). But most of the time, people seem too wrapped up in 'increasing their level' that they feel like they have the god power to take on the opposing team alone, ending up ruining it for the rest of us. Seems just like real life how sometimes, people put too much on a number. Until they released the new mappack for free, I couldn't even play and ranked matches. But i knew how good i play, but people still disrespected me. Between that and having 2 people lvl 2 vs 4 lvl 6's in a 3 plot, and them just toying with us, the fun of the game i almost gone. So I ask all who read this post in this thread: Bring the fun back to the game. If you know you're good, give it up to the little guys. We're not gonna learn from having our butts handed to us.

LOL, I'm only a level 6 right now and I understand a good portion of what you're stating, but I don't mind taking a loss BECAUSE of something that you stated early in your post, I don't take it that serious. I'm low ranking for the time being, (me and 4 million other guys) and honestly I think If I ran around wiping the floor with everyone, I'd lose interest fast and stop playing all together. And yeah I can kinda understand your frustration, but I also don't want anyone to hold back their A-game on account of me. That ain't helping me. If I feel like someone is LETTING me win, that sucks worse than an honest loss. To me, they're one and the same. If I can't beat you at your best, then what's the point? Players who're better than me help me to gauge my progress.

I actually spend 95% of my time on Halo playing non-ranked games. (mainly because their are less modders, and people dont take the game "too far") So I take it as me personally, I play for fun.

i mainly like to play for the fun of it. sure i like the competition aspect of the game and it feels great to win every now and then, but i mainly just want to have a good time. and since i'm relatively new to halo (the beta was my first experience; i know i'm behind the times) i don't really care that i'm not that great, which is why i've been sticking to unranked playlists because i don't want to be destroyed! honestly, though, my best first memories of halo were all the ways that i was being killed. many produced funny death sequences, and others i was just surprised by the tactics that the game allowed you to employ. anyway, my gaming time is precious since i have a busy life and i just want to spend it having a good time and not having a heart attack because the other team got our flag or because somebody noob combo'd me.

I play just to have fun. I used to play ranked games but I then found out something I should have sooner...I wasn't having any fun. I only had fun in really close games, like this time we were playing oddball and I killed the enemy guy that had the ball litteraly 1 seccond before they one. ONe of my guys got it and we won. Anyway ... so I switched to big team battle. much more fun. And when somone quits you aren't doomed to lose like in 4 on 4 games. We play on the really big maps like waterworks and coagulation (these being some of my favorite maps). So if you are tired of ranked games then move to big team battle, where an all out war awaits...

I usually spend my time playing BTB and other unranked games because I don't have to worry about my rank and all of that frustration. They're more fun. I'll play Team Slayer and other ranked matches if I can find at least one partner to team up with. The worst thing is for your "teammates" to quit or to de-rank you.

exactly right. un-ranked are much more fun, you dont have to worry about how wel;l you play, its just for fun
