This problem you are experiencing may be due to various reasons such as a weak internet connection or having trouble loading certain maps. A suggestion would be to reset your modem and/or router and contact your internet service provider if there are further issues at hand. If you haven't been on Xbox Live in a long time and had to download the 1.5 update, your map cache has been cleared and loading maps online may take longer to load until your console can successfully create a copy and recognize the map much faster. If you have any questions, you should contact the Xbox Live Technical Support Team here.

Not to hijack your thread, but I joined XBox Live for the first time yesterday, and I tried to get into a game (Rumble Pit) last night and this morning, and I waited about five or so minutes, but no other players joined.

What's an average time to wait for a game to start?

Thanks.

usually around 7-8 minutes with me.

I suck therefore I am.

i could useally get on games like hard core and big team in maybe 3-5 min maybe its something with your connection

I hope it's not my connection. I'm signed in with a guest for Rumble Pit. I've hit "start" and am now waiting.

Two things I'd suggest -

1. Your router and xbox configuration still has NAT (network address translation) on for your xbox. Learn how to and then configure your router/xbox without NAT and put your xbox into a DMZ (de-militarised zone). This allows your xbox to freely talk to the internet without security but still keeps your computer with security (safe from the Internet). It will speed up your Xbox Live play for sure.

2. In my experience, when game selection takes a longer than usual it's cheaters doing their best to cheat for host. This is why you keep going back in the 1 through 4 steps while waiting for a game. Bungie's latest update added this neat anti-cheat feature. Problem is that it's far from bullet proof and I've defintely confirmed players that cheat for host still. Essentially they standby for host now in place of bridging for host.

Thanks to all for the advice.

Problem solved: beginner's mistake on my part. I couldn't get into Rumble Pit because I had not downloaded the new maps. I figured this out after I was able to quickly (about 30 seconds or so) get into other games.

MJOLNIR armor: $1 million
MA5C Assualt Rifle: $2,000
M9 HE-DP Fragmentation Grenade: $100
Saving humanity from the Covenant: Priceless

There are some things in life that money can't buy. For everything else, there's Master Cheif.
