How long have your Marines survived against the Flood on 343 Guilty Spark on either the Easy or Normal difficulty settings (Heroic and especially Legendary are normally WAAAAAAAAAAY too tough for your Marines to survive...)?!? This includes from the time you and the last Marine exits the structure with the lift inside of it all the way to the area where the Marines usually stop following just in front of the distant tower where 343 talks to you and warps you to the Library. (There are ENDLESS waves of Flood here, BTW...) Oh, and most importantly, you CANNOT HELP YOUR MARINES IN ANY FASHION OTHER THAN "ESCORTING" THEM THROUGH THE SWAMP; this even includes diverting the Flood's attention from the Marines as well, so I'd recommend staying out of the Flood's line of sight, but close enough so that you can still remain in good visual contact to check the Marines' progress. I cannot stress that mandatorily important principle enough in a situation such as this. Finally, it helps to have an accurate stopwatch of some sort or form to help time this whole excursion from the point mentioned above to the time when your last Marine falls. Good luck, and have fun watching the Flood and (eventually) your Marines both get OWNED simultaneously!!!!!!! ;-D -Charlie A. Wolf.

OMG I thought I was the only one who does this. This is what made Halo CE have so much replay value. I also do this on AOTCR and many other levels. But anyway on "easy" my marines can last a very long time. On "normal" probably 30 -40 minutes.

I can't remember. A sentinel saved him from a flood form though and then the marine was left standing and I was transported away. He probably did have a shotgun.

Marine Squad #1. Okay, my first Marine squad lasted all the way to just in front of the big tower area at around the 2 minute mark, where only two shotgun-toting Marines were left standing; this went on 'til almost the 7 minute mark, when one of the two remaining Marines was finally killed by a trio of assault rifle-wielding Combat Forms in the distance, which were, in fact, out of range of their shotguns for the ENTIRE battle!!! Then, after seeing his sole comrade (aside from me, of course) fall, the remaining British Marine throws a frag at the Combat Forms, but only killing one of them. This battle continued on, with a lull in the middle of the rest of the battle for around 35 or so seconds, until the last Marine finally succumbed to the Combat Forms' assault rifle fire at exactly 8 minutes, 24 seconds, and 88 hundredths of a second elapsed time.
Marine Squad #2. Now, my second Marine squad was OWNED shortly after reaching the tower area, lasting only for a mere 1 minute, ten seconds, and 31 hundredths of a second elapsed time.
Marine Squad #3. Next, my third Marine squad was EVEN WORSE, for although they lasted a little bit longer than the previous squad did, they didn't even make it to the tower region of the map and quickly fell to the Flood's final main ambush just before the tower area, all courtesy to Flood Infection Forms ALONE. Alas, they only clocked out at approximately 1 minute, 18 seconds, and 78 hundredths of a second.
Marine Squad #4. Then, my fourth Marine squad made it too the tower area with three Marines, but were ALL killed one after the other straight in a row by the ever-present Flood, the first two by Infection Forms, the third by two Infection Forms coupled with an M6D Pistol headshot by a distant, raging Combat Form; in all, they lasted for only approximately 1 minute, 26 seconds, and 25 hundredths of a second.
Marine Squad #5. Finally, my last Marine squad for today couldn't even last TWO MEASLY MINUTES alive, for shortly after reaching the tower area, ALL OF THE REMAINING MARINES WERE ANNIHILATED BY INFECTION FORMS POSTHASTE; needless to say, the final Marine squad's time was a pathetic 1 minute, 56 seconds, and 7 tenths (70 hundredths) of a second.
Overall, all of the squads' average survival time was (rounded up/down to the nearest whole half-second respectively)... 2 minutes, 51 seconds, and one-half of a second approximately rounded elapsed time.

After the next four sessions of five totally different Marine/Flood encounters, I'll eventually round off the average for ALL 5 previous average times like the one above for a GRAND TOTAL which will decide under which category to vote under for this here thread of mine. Good luck with your own Marine survival reports!!!!!!! ;-D -Charlie A. Wolf.

all of them on ledgendary...made a point of it once to save all of them...even the ones that jump down infront of you just before you can get an invisible pack, they just stay there saying scardy cat stuff!!!!!!

I made a point of it on all levels....even managed to save 3 from the sword elite on the rescue the captain level!!! I just ran up and down the levels before the "control room" part of the level...and the marines got lost and just waited for me to come back with the captain and the freed marines....the other 2 followed me into the room and.......well........yay for me...I got the frags!!lol :P.

Man, I can't even always get them through the swamp. They all hide behind a rock. But every time, they all get pwnt by infection forms at the last ambush. When I kill most of the stuff in front of them, I usually have all but 1 or so left.

You think it got what it takes to be..?.

God forbid you send me one of those I was checking for cool gamers and saw you messages too, I will scream to the top of my lungs and smash this damn screen/BlackBerry to pieces! You've been warned -_-

Easy: The whole scene: OWNAGE!

Normal: Maybe 2-4 deaths, still pimpin those though.

Heroic: The marines start screamin like little -blam!- and get owned. One lucky guys stays alive for being smart.

Legendary: F**k the marines.

{Edit: WHat about the scene where 3 marines inside the structure was running and gunning the flood but get ambushed, how many did you save?}

Gigolo.

only 3 died due to the combination of grenades and AI bugs -- normal

I think those guys die automatically. the ones that are inside the structure in the middle of the level. No one left. and the last one falls down dead in front of me

I've saved only one before; one time, though, I just ignored the Marines as usual, and by the time I had reached the opposite side of the faulty energy bridge, there was STILL a Marine left standing on that side!!!!! ;-D Although I don't quite exactly know how he managed to do it yet... ;-) -Charlie.
