wats up everyone...well i got a problem so here it is...k i was carrying my 80 gig SATA hard drive and i dropped it! it fell about 5 feet on solid concrete.it fell flat....hella sux cause now i hear it turn on but the computer doesnt recognize it....in the BIOS it says nothin...is the hard drive toast? or do u think i can fix it if i open it? please let me kno if u kno thanx

Hmmm.....it pretty much sounds busted. Maybe the geek squad can take a look at it. Could just be a single part, could be the whole thing.

Your pretty much screwed. Geek squad is a joke. They can only do simple stuff like clean viruses install memory and software and at $155 for the first hour its not worth it. Opening a hard drive is not a common task so most techs won't be experienced with it. You could take it to a hard drive recovery place but I already know you can't afford that. Hard drives are cheap just purchase another one.

lol yeah i pretty much figured wen i droppped it that it was toast =/....geek squad is -blam!- and charge way too much...i juss have to get another one lol...i juss didnt wanna take the time to put everything on it again lol....buh yea i had hella things in my hand and it slipped out of a bad and i was like noooooooooooo....haha

I have no idea what you just said. There's a lot to be said about taking an extra minute and making sure people can actually understand what the hell your saying. As it stands your babbling is incomprehensible to me.

Try looking up some hard drive recovery tools... there was a good article in PC world last month about it... if nothing works, you can actually try freezing your harddrive (for about 24 hours) and see if it works - it did for one guy.
