There is a reason I am user ID 1 and my account creation date is before this site came online.

It is exploiting a glitch in the animations of weapon reloads, causing a variety of effects.

The benefit? Well if you do it in MM, it makes you as bad as a modder because you are CHEATING!!

Bacially you press RRX and if you do it right you get a really quick double burst of three shots with an auto reload without the animation of the reload...so you're shooting six shots at once instead of 3...
and yes it is cheating and it is stupid when other people do it just to win

Its called double shot, its a glitch that anyone can do, so, its not cheating...You press RRX, then YY, then RRX again...etc. My friend can do it so fast it seems like he has a full auto BR.

If you would look on the rules of MM you would find that weapon glitches, because they're available to everyone, are in fact, not cheating according to bungie. Furthermore, the people who take the time to practice and master such glitches as quad-shot (RRX YY RRX) have the right to use them. It's not cheap, it's hard as hell to be skillful at it, and i guarentee that if you went up against someone who is talented enough to use button glitches like the double shot then they could beat you without them as well.

Double shot = glitch.
Exploiting a glitch against an opponent to gain an unfair advantage = Cheating.
Cheating discussion = against the rules.

Pretty simple, eh fellas?
