We need to get rid of superjumps. Super jumping is bulls**t.

We need to make it easier to mute someone. Having to pause in the middle of a firefight is unreasonable if I want to shut someone up.

We need a "never again" button. If someone is a jackass we should have the opportunity to deselect that player as a potential team mate permanently. If someone is a jerk, then he can be my enemy, but I don't need a jerk on my team.

We need a "pirates" game in SWAT that would be pistols and swords only.

We need smoke grenades for screening.

We need to post the real names of cheaters. In fact, we need to do a class action lawsuit against cheaters. I think every modding jerk getting a $5,000 punitive action against them would help them to not mod in the future. We don't need cheaters.

We need mortars.

We need adults only areas so that we can have a chance of a decent game BEFORE 11:00PM eastern time.

We need faster servers. That blue screen really annoys me.

We need a better criteria for booting jerks. If some guy is shooting me and we are on the same team, what's with this thing about too many boot requests to boot him? Why is it that if someone shoots me intentionally and kills me I won't instantly be offered the chance to boot him, but if I shoot back and kill him he can boot me out of the game?

We need to discourage people who go into a game and quit immediately. Shutting down their access for an hour ought to do it.

We need zoom on the tank main gun sights. I have never been in a piece of armor in real life that didn't have that feature. You can see two fleas screwing a mile away with the optics in an M1A2 Abhrams.

Can anyone think of anything else?

Simply, no. Most of the things on there are completely opinionated, and aren't needed at all. You need mortars, smoke grenades and a 'pirate' game?! Why?! They aren't necessary at all, and are merely something you deem 'suitable' for the game. Surely if they wanted such drastic features, they would have included them in the game when Halo 2 was released in November 2004. Yes, Halo 2 is a game which is over 2 and a half years old. The likelihood of Bungie adding in such trivial things to their game is extremely low.

Rethink what you just said. Look for the hypocrisy. Also, I have noted that Bungie has made many upgrades to the game since its incept. Reconsider your words about that as well.

I will agree that somethng needs to be done about superjumping. Not likely to happen though. So people with little or no fighting ability will continue to jump to the heights where they can sniper others. Cowards . . .all of them. Now bring on the whining from all the cowardly super jumpers.

To the geniuses in this thread who don't seem to be able to create a cogent thought, thanks. If you can explain why what I have said is "worthless" or explain just how it is that I "don't understand how the game works" I would be glad to hear it. Most likely it would be like debating a monkey that had just consumed copious amounts of green peaches, but I am always willing to listen.

I especially like the "whiney kid" bit. :) I wonder if you would whine if I had you sandbagged and zip tied with my knife at your neck? I bet you would. Everybody else has so far.

I just want to see some improvements and I want to see people who have no respect for others relegated to the dustbin in short -blam!- order. Huah?

BTW, you may wish to rent a movie called Idiocracy. It is about the vast majority of online players.

The only thing I really agree with here is that we need to get rid of superjumping, but its impossible at this point.

And just to let you know, we dont need "better servers" we need dedicated servers. If microsoft gave XBL dedicated servers it would never lag like it does now, and that would be awesome.

And to be fair to the OP, what you said here is just as opinionated as the things he said. He likes them, you don't. 2 opinions. You can't get mad at him for stating his opinion and cuss him out by stating your own. Thats just not right man.

Ah the joy of an on-line community of players that spend their time killing other players.
Does anyone expect that people will "play nice"

As for the original post.
Superjumping wasn't orginally planned for the game(I hope). Wish they could or would fix it.
Quiters getting a timeout. Sure. Not an hour but until the end of the game would discourage it.
Never Again option. I'd love it.
Booting players easier? Nope it would be abused.
Mute without pausing, nope. No need I don't mute during firefights I just ignore or turn down the Volume on my headset.
Pirates? Sounds like a custom game to me. Have Fun, yo-ho-ho.
I think we need an energy sword that runs out of energy, but only when I don't have it.

  • 06.29.2007 6:34 AM PDT

we need less people crying about what "they want" and less of those same people acting tough and threatening them via online forum.

"we need to make it easier to mute someone" ignore them. sticks and stones will break your bones. if its screaming or noise and its so loud its disrupting the game, turn down your volume.

"we need a never again button" xbox 360 has it. halo2 is an xbox only port and this feature isnt available for it. o well.

"we need a pirates swat game" make one in your customs.

"smoke grenades for screening" smoke grenades dont fit the halo atmoshphere plus frags in certain areas mask pretty well however your reticle turning red when an enemy enters it smokey or not renders the whole "screening" useless.

"post real names of cheaters" im sure that violates some privacy policies. lawsuits? now thats silly. but seriously cheaters, cut the crap.

"we need mortars" do we? for what?

"we need adults only" coming from you, this made me lol

"we need faster servers" you need a better connection

"booting jerks wah wah" sometimes when a player is betrayed it is an accident. thusly the first betrayal is not usually flagged for a booting. a 2nd betrayal in a close tiem period is usually flagged and that is usually the guy who betrayed the original betrayer. the lesson here kids is: dont stoop to their level. the too many betrayals notice usually happens in games with many players, like BTB and isnt ranked so crying over this is kind of lame.

"quitting as immediatley" sometimes people lag out, sometimes people dont feel like playing dodgeball on warlock. why should they be barred for playin a game they dont want to play or lagging out.

"zoom on tank ive never been in a piece of armor in real life blah blah" halo2 isnt real life, its a video game. and god help us is peopel like you are getting in and out of tanks. xD

"we need less people crying about what "they want" and less of those same people acting tough and threatening them via online forum."

Oh yes, so true. Because if people didn't make their desires known so that the game designers could do tweaks and improvements then.... wait, no, we need people to voice their dissatisfactions so that the game can be improved. Yep, I am right and you are wrong.

" ignore them. sticks and stones will break your bones. if its screaming or noise and its so loud its disrupting the game, turn down your volume"
Crappy advice. The three combat fundamentals are shoot, move, and communicate. If you are unable to do these things, you are combat ineffective.

"smoke grenades dont fit the halo atmoshphere"
Why not?

"plus frags in certain areas mask pretty well however your reticle turning red when an enemy enters it smokey or not renders the whole "screening" useless"
You make the smoke grenades so that they are opaque to the reticle.

"do we? for what?"
To mortar people. Apparently Bungie agrees with this one since there are mortars in HALO 3.

"coming from you, this made me lol"
And why is that, Nancy?

"you need a better connection"
My connection is not the reason we see blue screens pretty regularly. They don't use a dedicated server for HALO games. Educate yourself.

"sometimes when a player is betrayed it is an accident. thusly the first betrayal is not usually flagged for a booting. a 2nd betrayal in a close tiem period is usually flagged and that is usually the guy who betrayed the original betrayer. the lesson here kids is: dont stoop to their level. the too many betrayals notice usually happens in games with many players, like BTB and isnt ranked so crying over this is kind of lame."

I am not talking about accidental betrayal. I am talking about people who display the same level of mental functioning as you who go into a game just to be an a$$hole. I want to be able to boot them instantly. Explain how this is unreasonable. Use that Socratic method they taught you in public school, har de har har.

"sometimes people lag out, sometimes people dont feel like playing dodgeball on warlock. why should they be barred for playin a game they dont want to play or lagging out."

Big difference between lagging out and and a jerk quitting because he doesn't like a particular map.

"halo2 isnt real life, its a video game. and god help us is peopel like you are getting in and out of tanks."
Well Nancy, it's like this. I don't know if you are an above board practicing homo-blam!-, a cripple, or just a plain old coward, but MEN like me are the ones that make it so that weak, passive little candy a$$es like you can live your comfortable soft lives where the only threat to you is simulated on a TV screen.

Men like ME are what YOU need, and not just in your fevered -blam!- fantasies. Now go back to trying on your Mom's high heels and tucking it back , and deprat this thread. If you can't have an even tempered rational discourse, don't come here in the first place.

agreed

We need to make it easier to mute someone. Having to pause in the middle of a firefight is unreasonable if I want to shut someone up.
Agreed

We need a "never again" button. If someone is a jackass we should have the opportunity to deselect that player as a potential team mate permanently. If someone is a jerk, then he can be my enemy, but I don't need a jerk on my team.
That is unfair to the person on the team. Just cause you don't like him you could put him in a bad situation just because of your opinion on someone

We need a "pirates" game in SWAT that would be pistols and swords only.
but no one would use the sword since a pistol is a 1 hit kill in the head

We need smoke grenades for screening.
Use normal grenades, they put up an OK screen. Besides, people will just run through the screens anyway

We need to post the real names of cheaters. In fact, we need to do a class action lawsuit against cheaters. I think every modding jerk getting a $5,000 punitive action against them would help them to not mod in the future. We don't need cheaters.
ARE YOU INSANE. Why would you charge someone SO MUCH MONEY! it's not illegal in the first place, and 5,000 is the dumbest, no, most RETARDED THING I HAVE EVER HEARD.

We need mortars.
It's called a rocket launcher and it works

We need adults only areas so that we can have a chance of a decent game BEFORE 11:00PM eastern time.
FACT: people must be 18 or older to sign up for Xbox live. Kids get around this, so how could they not get past adult only games...

We need faster servers. That blue screen really annoys me.
agreed

We need a better criteria for booting jerks. If some guy is shooting me and we are on the same team, what's with this thing about too many boot requests to boot him? booting is fine.

We need to discourage people who go into a game and quit immediately. Shutting down their access for an hour ought to do it.
Unfair and unessesary. You're being extreme. If I have to go eat, and I come back and I can't play, then wtf guy.

We need zoom on the tank main gun sights. I have never been in a piece of armor in real life that didn't have that feature. You can see two fleas screwing a mile away with the optics in an M1A2 Abhrams.
It would severeley make the tank unbalanced, because then you could kill everyone and they wouldn't have a chance.

Can anyone think of anything else?
Yeah, please stop being so extreme.

To tell you the truth, I'd prefer servers over matchmaking anyday. I mean, matchmaking is good if you just wanna join with the press of a button not knowing what game or map you're going to play, but servers really narrows it down to even the number of people playing. Plus, servers pwn.

This isn't a matter of legality or illegality. This is about a punitive measure taken though a civil action. If we nail every jerk who mods for 5K, modding will come to a screeching halt.

"It's called a rocket launcher and it works"

Rocket launchers are direct fire weapons. I would like some indirect fire to complement that.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

This flame war has come to an end. Stating your opinions is fine. Debating is also fine. Flaming and petty name calling, however are not okay on this site.

You said: If you can't have an even tempered rational discourse, don't come here in the first place.

Right after you said: Well Nancy, it's like this. I don't know if you are an above board practicing -blam!--blam!-, a cripple, or just a plain old coward, but MEN like me are the ones that make it so that weak, passive little candy a$$es like you can live your comfortable soft lives where the only threat to you is simulated on a TV screen.

How is that not the height of hyprocisy? You seem like a well spoken and intelligent guy, but that intellectual dishonesty you created above just takes this too far.

Its very simple, if a user behaves badly, PM a ninja, and let them take care of it. DO NOT flame them back.
