Si-!

Exactly what Halo 2 needs. A fair weapon that takes skill to use. It way better than the battle rifle in terms of skill needed to use. You can't sweep someone's head with a carbine, you actually have to aim.

For those that say it doesn't have enough ammuntition, you can do just fine if you aim well and kill quickly. Plus it also has a fast reload so if your ammo does run low just swap it out.

Also, as far as I have heard you can't really BXR with the carbine so that is just another plus to using this as a starting weapon.

We should still have some SMG starts every once in a while, but all the BR starts should be swapped with the carbine in my opinion. I"m sick of the Halo 2 battle rifle with its glitches and overuse. If it functioned more like the Halo 3 battle rifle I would take this all back but for now the carbine is the most skillful weapon in the game excluding snipers.

I agree, the Carbine is harder to use, so it takes more skill. You are also rewarded for the skill. But their are two problems(that Halo 3 Beta fixed)
*Latency issues. The Carbine was one of the weapons that were effected by lag, taking much more then the required 7 shots to kill. Making the 18 round clip unprefrered for big fights. But in Halo 3 The Carbine is supposed to kill in six shots, killing a total of three people like the Battle Rifle can. Leaving some error of lag to kill at least 2 people. In Halo 2, the Battle Rifle is just used more for it's button glitches(Even though Carbine can also BXR and BXB) and the Battle Rifle, with it's 36 round magazine and 3 shot burst makes it less of a biggie on lag in my experience. Host or not.

*Lack of starting ammo. Only 2 Magazines? With it's vulnerability to latency? Not cutting it. Poor weapon that could've been great. I believed this was also fixed in the Beta, but it's power made more ammo not needed(in Halo 3).

In fact, I saw an MLG article concerning good weapon starts for Halo 3. The Assault Rifle, Carbine and Battle Rifle. The Carbine won out, and may be the MLG weapon of choice for Halo 3.

Just wait for Halo 3 to secure your needs :D

I agree that there should be MORE Carbine starts, not all Carbine starts though. It would cause way to much uprage. But it probably is the most balanced starting weapon in the game. My only problem with it is the fact that its not a great Team Fire weapon.

The ammo problem wouldn't be as much of a problem as a starting weapon, since everyone would have one, ammo wouldn't be hard to find. The latency is an issue to, but would be less of one if it was used on smaller maps such as Lockout and Midship, where its latency problems would only be noticed when fired cross map.

Very true come to think of it. I'm just glad it's better in Halo 3.
