i believe that bungie made a mistake by not letting the player choose between single and burst fire options for the battle rifle. remember the e3 demo, where the player could do that in scope mode? i believe that should be implemented in Halo 3. just a thought. it might actually help balance the BR in relation to the carbine, too..

But imagine how long it would take to kill someone with a One shot Burst. In the E3 Demo the Player was shooting Grunts not a Spartan. It wouldnt be very good in halo. Four 3 shot bursts kills a Spartan. imagine how long a One shot burst would take.

good point, but acuracy would be dramatically increased and you could kill from very long distances, as opposed to the sloppy style of the burst scope.

First off, it's called semi automatic. If it were "single shot" then we would only be able to load one bullet into the gun, shoot, and load another one.

A semi automatic Battle Rifle wouldn't work, even if it was just for the scope, it wouldn't help anything. If anything, make sure it's an optional firing mode with D-Pad. Not forced under scope.

The Carbine is already Semi Automatic, so it would take down anyone with a Battle Rifle when both use scopes, or if the Battle Rifle was always semi auto.

I like that idea, because you could conserve ammunition. You would have to be able to fire it as fast as the magnum though or it would be damn near useless against most weapon combinations.
