Okay, so I got Halo 2 Vista, but when I play it, I get an incredibly annoying sound problem - everything comes in all crackly screwing up sound effects (The BR makes an incredibly horrible noise - every bullet) and slowing down voices and making sound lag. Even background noise that I have running in Vista (TeamSpeak) becomes affected as well. I don't know if it cased the problem, but I installed it using the "Install while playing" option. If this caused the problem, is it safe to un-install the game and re-install it?

P.S. I have the game installed on a second computer as well, so I don't want to un-install it only to find that the game won't re-install.

Check your speakers, make sure they're connected properly, and update the driver for your sound card. Then fiddle with the settings for the sound card until you find something that works. I used to have sound issues when I had the hardware acceleration set to full, so I switched it to basic and it worked fine.

Oh, and you really don't need a poll for a tech support question. Pointless.

I had similar problems with vista, let me guess you have a creative soundblaster sound card. Update your drivers and that should help.

Heh, I guess I don't - but I just did, 'cos... I felt like it :P. Yes, I have a Soundblaster thing, and it is updated as far as possible and it still has problems. I'll also try setting the hardware acceleration to basic and see what happens. Thanks.

Yes, it's obvious you're a moron. You don't need to advertise the fact.

To the OP, i suggest giving up on anything with the Bungie/Hired Gun logo on it, since quality control seems to be rather near the bottom on their list of priorities. Go play Fallout, you won't be dissapointed.

Plural, you need a plural, it would be words, not word. And, opinion is spelt as mentioned.

Well Obi lots of sound companies don't have Vista drivers. The only cards I'm aware of that do are the X-Fi series cards.

True, there should still be some basic options he can finaggle to try and get acceptable preformance out of his card. Whatever it may be.

Mine has a Vista driver, but I think it's beta. As for the hardware acceleration, I don't know how to change it - could you tell me where to find that?

My computer rates as a 5.0, so it's not that - trust me.

I have the same problem, although mine is random. SOmetimes the sound doesn't work at all, and sometimes it works fine, and it can be in the same level. I have a brand new intel qx4 with 4gig ram, 2 ati 1950s, and Xfi Audio extreme with all drivers up to date. I installed mine originally the same way you did. I did a complete uninstall and re-install and nothing changed. I changed the speaker set-up from windows default to 2.1 and then 5.1 and no joy there either. It seems to be a vista interface problem. I installed shadowrun, (another vista only game) and I have the exact same problem

My RealTek sound card has Vista drivers.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

I have integrated sound and it works fine.

I had a similar problem, although it affected my whole computer, not just H2V. I plugged in a wired 360 controller into my PC to try it out on H2V and the audio became crackly on everything. It ended up just being my motherboard, USB devices conflict with the onboard sound card for some reason.
