Halo 1 & 2 for PC

This is the Spazzy Spartan, and you have eyes, with which to read this so you choose.

Okay, as you can probably tell about this paticular thread will be about POWERUPS! Are they really Powerups? Or Powerdowns? I personally think that they were better in Halo CE. Here's why:

Active Camoflauge HALO CE: I liked this Powerup. You could actually sneak into an enemy's base and steal their flag. Sure, you could get killed, because the AC dulled a little, and you were slightly visible, still hard to see, but still able to be seen. I liked this feature.

Active Camoflauge HALO 2: Now, I'm glad that they at least kept this in the game (Assault Rifle.. but that's another topic for another time). Now although the pretty, shimmery effect is cool, but not meant for the AC. Now there is a good thing to it. When I timed both of these, the AC in H2 is a little bit longer. But not much.

Over Shield HALO CE: Now, this was a tactical advantage if one of your team mates had it. A nightmare if your enemies had it. You could take three times the damage than normal, meaning about two to three more kills for you. In slayer games that had this powerup, you had to go at them as if they had the Over Shield, chances are, they didn't, but hey, guess what? If they didn't you killed them nine times out of ten.

Over Sheild HALO 2: Okay, again, that shimmery effect is cool, but not for the Over Sheild. Now, It's good for your enemies if you have the Over Sheild. They can tell if you have it and what stage it's in, and how much firepower to use. It's bad for you if you have it, as you light up like a Christmas light in the middle of a crypt. Especially in maps such as Waterworks, or the caves in Blood Gulch (yes, I call Coagulation 'Blood Gulch').

Well, that's all of my rants for now, this has been the Spazzy Spartan, good night.

Actually, powerups in Halo 2 gave you the advantage. The Halo 2 overshield is much better than the HPC one.

This is true, it is alot stronger, so I guess one could argue that the Halo 2 Oversheild is much better, but the fact that I think the Halo CE's OS is just my opinion. Thank you for posting your opinion, much obliged.

Halo CE's overshield only lets you take twice the normal amount of damage. If your normal "life" is 100% health and 100% shield (200% total), you'll have 100% life and 300% shield (400% total).

Back to your point, I don't see why having the overshield revealed to opponents makes it any less effective than if it were concealed. Plus, in Halo CE, three pistol shots is all it takes to see if somebody has an overshield.

Just for the record, the camo in Halo 1 is supposed to be "shimmery", as well. (I like the term "icy".) It's "icy" on Xbox, and it is on PC if you have a DX 9 ATI Raedon video card. If you have an NVIDIA card, it just looks like a blur, but that's not how it's supposed to look.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

Or you can use DXtweaker if you have an nvidia card so the game runs on the ati codepath.

The OS is good.

The CAMO is bad, your more visible with a camo then with out, atleasy on my gfx card people stand out from base to base when they have a camo on.

But atleast everyone has the same camo affect no matter what your graphics card is, usually ATI users could see camo better then nvidia users in halo 1.

I'm going to have to disagree strongly with that one. Especially after reading this.

Funny thing is, the person that posted that on Halo2failures was last playing HALO 2 acording to their gametag...

Hypocrit lol.

So? You would rather have some Combat Evolved fanboy who touched Halo 2 on a shelf at a store one time and condemned it as trash or someone who actually played the game extensively enough to notice its flaws to critique it?

True that.

Your workings are incorrect. :)

I would not class 100% health as the same as 100% shield, it takes one pistol shot to the head to kill without shield, and 2 to the body. It takes 3 body shots to take down the shield.

With shield you can get 3sks, with OS it is more like a 10sk. 1 sniper shot against 3.

Either way, we should not be arguing which is better, we should be arguing which is more balanced.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

Shouldn't be arguing about something that doesn't matter at all.

On a forum for halo pc and h2v, you probably wouldn't find anything more imprtant than balance issues concerning halo pc and halo 2 vista...

Not anything to argue about, have a discussion, yes.

argument can be used as an alteration for debate, it isn't always a fight.
