You're not supposed to be able to join your own server.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

Set the server to run on a different port besides 2302.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Run the server with the argument -port 2304

Like, haloded.exe -port 2304

You can put it in a shortcut.

obviously, by the name "dedicated server" the program is designed to be run on a computer for the sole purpose of being a server.
You aren't supposed to be able to run the halo client at the same time, and join the server.

BUT, wouldn't it be kinda good if you could? I mean, I would love to just start a simple server from within the halo client, but when that gets to the end of a game, it requires user input ("press enter") to continue, so I cant just go away and leave it.

I would like to be able to start a dedicated server for others to play on, but be able to chip in with the client, and play from the same computer...

Obviously that isn't ideal, I might cause a bit of lag, but that's what I'd like. (maybe a bit greedy, but hey I paid for the program!)

At the moment, I have a dedicated server running as follows:
"haloceded.exe -exec dediinit.txt -path C:\Halo CE\dedigametypes -port 2665"

There are six people out of ten playing on it.

When I try to join it from the halo client, it claims "The game has closed down"...?

Any ideas?
~Andrew

cheesy git, to join ur own dedicated server, u must change ur halo CE, ports. Go into settings, network setup, and change ur server port to:2305 and ur client port to: 2308. I have my own dedicated server, and I dont lag the server, and I never have trouble getting into the server.

Now I have my own dedicated server question......Why does my dedicated server all of a sudden just not respond, I leave it on for a day, no problems, and then just outta no where, it pretty much turns off. The Halo console is still open but when i type in sv_players, it says "sv_players cannot be executed now". Then i have to re open my server and thats not making it really dedicated then.

plz help
