i got halo 2 for pc and have been playing it for 3 days and i have a really big problem with it. when a cutcene plays its really unstable the video locke's up and freezes so much i cant see or hear anything. so basically i havent been able to understand the story because every cutcene freezes until the end and then when the gameplay starts the frame rate is under 5FPS for about 2 minutes after every cutcene.

ive played alot of games in my PC and this is the first one that has had problems

Did this too me. The game REALLY requires 2gb ram (ignore the 1gb..seriously). I betting you have 1gb and mabye vista ultimate. Theres nothing you can really do except buy more

Never did this to me. 2 GB RAM and no issues. I have had close to no issues with Halo 2 Vista.

What it is.

What's your vid card? If not just run the Halo 2 - PC test from here. Never know, it could just be your setup. other than that, the game is pretty buggy for most people and they need a patch really bad.

When I have Halo 2 running, I check to see its memory usage in Task Manager: 402,544k.

Total Physical Memory: 2096624K
Available: 1022186K

Yeah the only thing i can guess is that it's the RAM. Other than that it should play smooth...

Yeah, because some people are just lying when they say they have 2 GB ram.

Exact thing happened to me, I put an additional 1GB of ram to make 2 GBs of ram and it was gone, no cut-scene lag.

I guess that solves it then i need more memory, when i build my pc i thought 1GB was enough but i guess in windows vista its not.

also i cant seem to pass the recommended requirements in most new games because my video card is showing up as 244.04MB of memory when its actually 256MB therefor systemrequirementslab says my video card doesnt pass the recommended specs hmm..

I had the same problem 1gb ram with an 8600GT, the game ran crappy, then i upgraded to 2gb and a 8800GTS 320mb now it runs smooth as silk. BTW my 8600GT registered as a 244 mb aswell not the 256mb.

I had no issues whatsoever with 1GB RAM.

If you run the game on Low, that may be why, but some people like visual clarity.

I just finished the game but didnt really enjoy it because of this problem, honesly everyother game i have plays perfectly on high settings (and all of them have better graphics) like rainbow six vegas.

I actually tried the Tomb raider Anniversary demo and the Lost Planet Demo (the DirectX 10 version) and all of them play much better then Halo 2. 1 thing is for sure and thats that with the kind of graphics halo 2 has it shouldn't require so much power

you should try it on XP, since it seems the game runs 5,000 times better on it.
