Has any one experienced random sound issues with HALO 2? My sound works fine on everything but HALO 2. Even with this, the sound is fine all through the log-in, start up, and selection. The minute the game actually starts 9 times out of 10, the I get a nasty scratchy sound and then now sound. Peridocally, as I change levels, it will make the noise and go silent. HOwever, sometimes the sound track will just start working, and work through 1 or 2 levels and then quit. It's not the same levels that work or don't work either. I have a new gateway Q4 with 4 gig ram and a SOund Blaster X-FI Music Extreme card. I have updated drivers, uninstalled and re-installed to no avail. The sound track is a vital part of the game, and it's very frustrating to only occassionally hear it. If any one has any suggestions, I would be grateful

Try downloading the latest drivers for your sound card.

PS: Why did you put Halo 2 in all caps?

Thanks. Tried that. No joy. Even tired latest viedo updates in case of wierd cross talk. As far as I can tell, everthing that can be updated is.

Umm brain cramp on the caps I guess. The insdustry I work in usually uses all caps for project names, and I had an out of mind moment I guess. Wasn't shouting it out

Try fiddling with the settings in the Sound cards control panel. Specifically, try turning Hardware acceleration to "basic" or whatever the lowest is, since that's what solved my sound issues of HPC and other games.

If all else fails, buy a new sound card.

Thanks. I will give that a try. I think that's the only thing I haven't tried

Brand new card, VIsta games are the only ones to have the problem, so I doubt it is the card.

I had a similar problem with Vista games, but it was resolved by a driver update.
