Subject: How do you get Halo 1 PC to look SOOO GOOD?

Well, at least as good as a Five year old game can look. But Srsly, I've seen on some montages Something that looks superior to Halo 2. SRSLY WTF?? I'm running it on a GeForce 8800, so that isn't the problem

Oh, bye the way, is there a way to get it to run in 1680 x 1050? I don't like the pixelness...

Your moniter doesnt support all the res's in the world, each moniter has a max res.

put that in your root directory

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

restored shaders:
http://forums.halomods.com/viewtopic.php?t=43648
dxtweaker:
http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=60814

Then force your graphics card to run AF

This will make the game the best it can look. What walmart posted willl not make the game look good.

Make sure you force Anisotropic Filtering in the Nvidia control panel.

Yes, anisotropic filtering is a must for Halo. It looks like complete crap without it.

Heres another way if you want to:

And you could go to: The Halo Directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo

Then find the file named " config ", then scroll down, find your video card in the section of your video card's manufacturer name, if you can't find your video cards name then put it in the right section, ( as close as the numbers get is what i do) then once you do that put " DisableAlphaRenderTargets " (without quotes) . But first go into DxDiag and find numbers which should be beside your video cards name, (I.E; 0x4569). Once you've done that find your video cards name in config.txt again and put DisableAlphaRenderTargets under the name ( to make space go on the right side of your Video cards name then press enter then put it in) Close down config, if it asks to save, click yes. Start Halo and now look at the difference!

You have to disable using the GUI in the program, or something like that. but it still cant detect DX on vista for me /wrist

anyway the thing i posted makes your scope look alot sharper (not blurry) fixes crappy night vision, and waaaay better FPS. though specular on maps like danger canyon, and death island its a bit too much. it looks best on derelict TBH.

if i had a good enough GPU to run halo at 1280X1024 all on and high, i wouldn't use that fix

(Bungie > 343i)

Yeah i have 2 8800 gtxs sli and it still dosn't look like some videos i have seen. And none of the things you guys put up worked for me.

And my max res is 1680 x 1050. Halo 1 doesn't support that Res.

I have AF forced to 16x. And it still looks the same.

I did everything on here except for what LOL WALMART posted and the result was an awesome looing Halo game and my freeze problem was just about diminished, but it didn't make the active camo look shiny like it said it would(DXTweaker). Also the specular reflected more than one color on Forerunner textures, and from far away they looked flat and textureless.

Also, how do I install the restored shader patch? The zip file I downloaded just had two files in it: .DS_Store and bitmapsrs.ppf. What do I do with them?
