Hello,

First timer here and as far as I can tell I haven't seen this issue addressed in here. So here goes, I install the game all is cool play all the way up to the last level of Halo 2 or so I think it is... The Pit part it seems like the game goes to load a cut scene and I get a put the disk into the drive message the disk is in a drive already so I'm thinking does it suddenly have to be in the drive it was installed in? Is this the first check for the disk? I tried another of my 4 drives. Then I get a Live saved a different point or some crap that makes me do the entire last level over again. So I do the level over in another drive not recalling which one I originally put it in. If anyone knows what can be done about this issue it would be most appreciated. If there is ideas as to how to fix this issue, or if it is an installed drive only issue please let me know where I can find the info as to which drive I installed it in. Thanks for your time if this is a post about a covered issue I could not find my apologies.

I uninstalled, then reinstalled the game in a different directory. Played the entire final level again and after the zap and fall down the pit it loads the Halo 2 screen for loading then bam error message again to insert the game disk and the disk was still in the drive from the install. So I'm sure as everytime before it will state when I say continue that the Live Data is corrupted and to start the entire level over again. Worst part of this isn't even an easy trial and error it requires a whole level to be redone when I try fixes. I'm at a loss here as to what to do. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

You know it would have been helpful for you to put what Halo game you were playing in the first place instead of assuming we know what game you're playing. I thought you were talking about Halo 1 untl you said Halo 2 in your last post.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

Did you have a virus scanner running when you installed the game?

Nothing running in the background, no anti virus etc. Its really strange... It seems to be an issue no one else I've seen having. The second install was on an entirely different disk drive. I'd love to see a knowledge base on it but it seems like I'm a lucky one of a very few...

Slaying noobs since 2007.

Could be a corrupt file.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

Perhaps you were running some program or file without knowing. Remember various programs such as Windows Live Messenger, XFire, Steam Service, multiple anti-viruses, and the list goes on. And thus, you said you re-installed it, so how can you remember with one time, and even worse in both times? I bet you there was atleast one program running when you did, and that perhaps strangely corrupted the game file. Suggesting myself, without experience of such a happening, erase ALL files concerning the game (Not video or Direct 9X, whatever file...) from your PC, from your Control Panel. Then install it once more. If that error occurs even more, then contact Microsoft.

I doubt that installing the game in a different hard drive makes any difference at all man... unless of course, that hard drive is not working to its full potential. I don't know for sure, but try remembering which one was it that you used for the instalation and check it for irregularities or sanity (Dirt, any filth, scratched in any way, etcetera.).

[EDIT]

Contact me for more help to my XFire account sniperwaffle.

This issue has been discussed before. I know because I had the same problem. Here's how to get past it:

1. Start Halo2
2. Select Campaign mode
3. Select "Choose Level" not "Resume"
4. Select the next level "Gravemind" I think.

It will tell you that you will not get your achievements if you select a level. However, since you are choosing the next level it continues on as normal.

Oh, it only did this to me on Normal mode, it worked perfectly on Hero mode.

Is there more than one installation disc for the game? Since unless it's a DVD, you need more than one CD to get the required amount of hard disc space, even with compression. Try putting in a different disc.

edit: BTW, that's not the end of the game, there are still a few more levels to complete.
