I want a new TV, but I don't have anywhere NEAR as much money for an HDTV. Right now, I have a 19" mono (one speaker) Sanyo TV. Its a piece of crap, and its old. I was thinkin of upgrading to a normal 27" Stereo TV, and then buying a 500watt 5.1 surround sound system.

Indeed, well, since it's in print, we all no that. but obbi, think about it,
HALO 2!!!! thats great that he to optimize his halo 2 experience for halo 2, but a TV? personally i'm just gonna stick to the actual game, besides, in about 5 years when you've milked halo 2 for all it's worth on a high def. plasma screen tv, then what will you do hmmm?

If you've seen what a high-def screen is capable off, you wouldn't be posting such nonsense. You don't just play games on it you know.

Get a nice large Sony Wega, they have some good 27-42" (recommend 42) 4:3 HDTVs, because with the widescreen, everything is stretched, even when you don't want it, not recommended, and not good for gaming.

I'm not sure you can get an HD Wega in 27''. But I believe Samsung offers some good 27" models pretty cheap. Also, with regards to the widescreen issue, there are different viewing options. You can compress 4:3 signals horizontally to it's natural ratio, like a horizontal letterbox.

As ashamed as I am to admit it, I know the guy. Don't worry, I'll give him a good shot to the arm.

I think the best way to play halo 2 would be to find a way to plug it to a 19" High res computer screen.

so samsung has some cheap hdtvs. i was thinking of a zenith which accepts any resolution (converts 720p to 1080i) and its on sale at best buy.

Hey coy, what would be really nice, is if they made gaming specific monitors(for PC but with component or other digital inputs) like 25" with the super high res and -blam!-, and then games with the option to set the res to work with it, ohhh the beautiful games we would play!

Well, Advent has some fairly cheap HDTV's in the 27" range, and their supposed to be fairly good quality. The one I saw looked very nice, and it wasn't THAT expensive (699 cdn). I already have a 42" HDTV, but games screw up rear projection TV's with all that phosphorus burn in crap, so I need a new one too. I'll probably pick it up within the next couple weeks :)

First off, way to be about buyin a new tv. Now, do NOT get a WEGA. Not that i have anything against sony, but after studying images of tvs looking for the right deal (yes, i would watch a tv for a min at the retailer, than look at another one) the WEGA series isnt all its cracked up to be. My personal brand is Hitachi. Very good tvs. Also, the extra money you pay for a BRAND NAME TV does pay off (like dont get a Zenith or sometin). As for getting a big screen, we bought a used 52 hitachi thats quality is very good for $900 canadian. The picture is excellent, but since it isnt a HDTV, sniping on 10x is kinda hard... So, the best thing to do is go stare at screens at you local futureshop, bestbuy, circuit city etc. As for phosphorus burn crap on rear projection, it only happens when an object is stationary for long periods of time (mabye the HUD in Halo...), but if you leave the tv to do sometin, turn ur tv off, its not like its bad for ur xbox or anything, then u dont need to wry bout the burn crap. I have seen it happen, but only when left on pause for 3 hours.
