Ok so I feel rather stupid asking this on here but I just can't figure it out. I'm hoping its something really simple that I've overlooked.

I just installed Halo 2 Vista and while playing I can not reload my weapons and I can not pickup (exchange) weapons for ones laying on the ground, AI hands, or weapons lockers. I have tried all sorts of key mapping from custom (using alternate keys, mouse buttons etc) to reload the weapon and nothing works. But heres the kicker. Lets say I want to reload. I press "R" to reload... nothing happens. I then Alt-Tab out of the game and then Alt-Tab back into the game and guess what. It reloads. Same thing if I say I want to pickup a weapon. I press Q and Alt-Tab out of the game... as soon as I alt-tab back in and walk over a weapon it picks it up. I have no idea what is causing this. All other games work, keyboard is fine and the system is more than capable to handle this game (Athlon 64X2 6000+, ATI Radeon x1950xt and 2GB DDR2 800) game runs like butter but without the ability to pickup weapons or reload its a PAID... I've tried to play it because I'm a Halo fanboy but this is unbearable. I even upgraded my system so I could play Halo 2 Vista now I'm stuck with a broken game. And yes I've tried re-installing the game.

HELP!!!!!

Well the R button is listed as reload under my keyboard settings page and on top of that I've tried every possible button combination. I've tried holding the key, I've tried tapping the key, I've tried key combinations, I've tried everything I could think to do. Even went through every single key on the keyboard & mouse tapping and holding each one thinking maybe just maybe something got screwy. And as I previously stated I have re-installed the game. Any other suggestions?

As for the whole re-installation. I noticed that when I re-installed (After uninstalling) H2 Vista did not ask me to update nor did it need any of my information. It kept it all somewhere on the computer. Anyone know where to get to delete all this personal data? I'd really hate to reinstall Vista just because of a game.

Ok well I tried the latest patch and that hasn't changed a thing. I have found that when I press the Home key it will reload the weapon or if I am standing over a weapon and want to pick it up I press Home. And pressing Home brings up the XBL window. Once I press Home again or back out it puts me back in the game but either reloads or picks up a weapon I am standing over. Its really annoying. I don't know what the heck is going on. Anyone have a problem like this on this forum before? I can't seem to find anyone with a similar problem. I just played an hour of Half-Life 2 just to make sure it wasn't the keyboard and nothing. Load up Halo 2 Vista after patching and still same damn problem.

I am open to all suggestions.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

Technically you are still wrong, it's Halo 2 for PC.

What it is.

Seems to me that if you are using a controller, the X button is being pressed down(maybe sticky?). If you're using just the KB/M, then make sure your R/E keys aren''t stuck. Other than that, i have no idea.

I call it Halo 2 Vista because it requires Vista to operate. If I could have run it on XP out of the box I would have called it Halo 2 PC.

As for my problem I am currently in the process of installing Vista all over again. System is less than a week old and this is the only problem I've had. Hopefully this re-install fixes it. No keys are stuck and remapping doesn't change a thing.

I'll post my results here.
