I did it because I had a lot of spare time and I was dared into it. As for addicted? No. I don't get an adrenline rush from counting plants and I have had a psycological evaluation. (Which I had to take to be a witness in a court case) I turned out to be sane.

Also I do have a life. I target practice, study up on military tactics, draw and watch anime, I actually have a girlfriend that is normal by society's standards, I write novels (none of which I've bothered getting published), I play other games besides Halo, and I enjoy political and religous debates. One who is addicted does not do these things because something consumes their whole life. Leaving no room for anything else. Now before you vainly try to piss me off by this pathetic attempt at an insult, get to know the person you are attacking. Otherwise I'll have to slap you back into shape.

My thumbsticks will be your Doom.... sorry 'bout that.
My Stats

I gotta agree with something there TRuemonkeyK. A knife wouldn't necessarily be a huge deviation from the already established Halo.

Like the flag or skull, or any other mellee attack at knife would just be another object in the Chiefs hand (they never let you use just your fist do they? If you have to have something in it why not a knife?). It wouldn't have to be as deadly as it is in the books (a Spartan with a knife is purported to be the deadliest thing alive - and I assume that this is where the "geeks" get these fandangled ideas like "hey, there should be a knife in the game").

Of course what is looking out to be an instant kill mellee weapon is the PLasma Sword, the one new addition to the game that I am most apprehensive about. This is because I am a fan of the books and I've noticed that Eric Nylund has written his stories in tandem with Jason Jones and the other guys on the story at Bungie. Never before has there been such corrolation between a work of fiction and the playable options of it's game (granted in this case; the game is first and foremost, but the point is- the story adds all that flavah to the momments when your just running around shooting and stabbing aliens). Therefore because of known elements in the story, i hope the PLasma sword is just in MP and the knife shows up at least in Campaign, keeping in mind that the two are by no way equal.

And hey, Geeks don't want all the stuff that's in the books to be in the game. If so, I'd want to be able suspend myself 100meters in the air with some rope and snipe out Banshees, cut thru Titanium A armor with the new plasma-sword, and I want my Sheilds to ripple whenever a high level of radiation was present.

"A knife just wouldn't be Halo" is just a closed-minded argument.

oh yeah and i think the sheilds are slippery to the touch but when severe force or energy is applied (lets just say concentrated like the tip of a knife or a bullet) the impact energy is dispersed through the rest of the shields surface area. When the energy is too much for the total surface area (surface tension) to handle it weakens, sputters, depletes and in extreme cases, shorts out.

As for sprinting, I think it will be in Halo2 and it will be cool. Just think, you know those parts on Attack on the Control Room where you have to cover a large snow covered area to get to a hog or some marines (or Med KIt!!). Wouldn't it be nice to realisticly lower you weapon and run faster? The issue is with the firing of weapons, will it snap you out of sprinting mode when the trigger is pressed? will it take long for you to raise your weapon back up while sprinting? Can you change weapons while running and will a melee attack with, oh i dunno, -lets say a knife, slow you down?blam

The only argument I have towards the knife is that it just wouldn't look very cool. As for sprinting, I think that a good control for that would be holding 'up' on the D-pad, thereby eliminating the risk of doing it on accident... just a thought...

XBL: FTG Spartan
But you were dead a thousand times. Hopeless encounters successfully won. A man long dead, grafted to machines your builders did not understand. You follow the path, fitting in to an infinite pattern.
Yours to manipulate, to destroy and rebuild.
Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.
I know who you are.
You are Destiny.

I was not trying to be funny, just pointing out that jharbst is an -blam!- and everything that I have ever heard him say in a post makes no sense and he has no knowledge of Halo beyond whats presented in the game. If I was trying to be funny I would have said something funny. I wasn't talking to you Draeden so go ahead and wait for Hikaru because I'm not trying to carry on a debate with you, I'm explaining that jharbst is an idiot and that he needs to shut up.

Everyone, keep your temper, and don't curse each other out. Please, you're representing Bungie. Please stop!

This may be how we can spring in halo. We would hold down two buttons (such as "A" and "Y" at the same time) to place our weapons aside. Then we start running, but hold "L" trigger to sprint (or "R" trigger), kind of like holding down a trigger to go faster in the ghost. What do you guys think now?

I've never heard of it inside Halo 2. heck i've read every little detail they've put out and I have yet to hear about that.

And what happened to this thread being dead? It was better off when everyone left it alone.

The knife would not be a deviation. This has probably been stated in the forum already, but I did not read all of the forum, but in FoR It says someting along the lines of "The master Chief jumped from his hiding spot and drove his combat knife into the back of the Jackals head" (Sigma Octanus section)

You obviously never read the whole thread. I recommend that you do and not reply to any of it.

Well I think that some of yall are getting to technical, MOST video game makers wouldn't get so complicated they would just decide if they want the knife or not, hell they could just flip a coin. Thats what i think

Normally, I would feel the same, who cares. But Halo is such a good game that such a small detail in the books such as the rippling of a shield in the presence of radiation, could be potentailly a huge advantage in halo 2 multiplayer areanas, so a small technical deatail may be huge

I'm curious if you can melee while sprinting, and if it does more damage.

Well, you melee harder while dropping, so yes, it should happen. Also, about the plasma sword. What will balance it? Hopefully a knife!

I experienced that today. I was playing AOTCR, and I had a banshee to kill the rest of the covies at the end of a level. It was on easy, and the gold elite jumped 10 feet in the air, landed on my banshee, and took all of my life away, except one bar. Then later on, he ran up to it, and only took half of my life away, so yeah, the faster you fall/run, then melee, the harder the hit.
