It's the n00biest thing there is. Which makes me happy that in H3 they appear to have taken the edge off of the PP. I noticed a couple of arguements that "the pros use it" but that doesn't mean anything MLG pros also use the double-shot technique and also super-bounce. Because MLG uses LANs they get to set the rules up for their matches, and since they allow all of that stupid stuff the "pros" pick it up. It's just like if the MLB didn't have a rule against performance-enhancing drugs, all the players would use it and then you'd get little kids juicing up and saying "But the pros use it! So it must be the best and most advnaced way to play!"

You obviously have no clue what you are talking about. Comparing a weapon that was PLACED PURPOSELY into a game, to a substance discovered to increase performance. There's no relevance. Not to mention, pros don't superbounce, its an automatic DQ. The "pros use it" argument is actually quite a good one in relation to people saying only noobs use the combo, when its obviously not true. I find that people that are good use it more than people who aren't.

It's both.

But it's also a power weapon, so its strength in this game is justified.

If you can't change the situation, you can change your attitude.

Clear Cuts FTW!

s0 i h3rd uz liek mudkipzzz?!

The only people who think it's "nooby" are the people that don't know how to dodge it. Just use cover, so simple. It's not nooby it takes skill to know HOW to use it

people call all power weapons "noob" weapons, noob combo, noob cannon (rockets) noob stick (sword) etc.

Funny thing is that it takes skill to use rockets and sword. The noob combo, all you have to do is line up the bolt of plasma and shoot the guy once in the head.

LOL.

Shooting a guy once in the head, is just as hard as getting a rocket kill. Neither take much skill

Ever try using a rocket against a gauss hog or a tank or even agaisnt a BR guy at longer ranges?

Would the noob combo be effective against a gauss hog, or a tank. At longer ranges, I've 4 shotted kids before they got the BR shot off from their noob combo.

Ever think that maybe they were noobs? And actually, in Halo 3, the PP will be effective against vehicles ;)

....I can 4-shot them, making them noobs? I can 4-shot people that are quite good, and better than me actually.

Way to bring up an irrelevant point, since we are talking about Halo2.

Very true.

Even though it doesn't take much skill to use, it's still there in the game. Some call it cheap, others call it tactics. I lean more towards tactics, because it's available to everyone, right?

If you don't want to get killed by it, don't let the other team have it. Or, prepare yourself for it when you know it's about to be used against you.

i call it the -blam!- combo because if you have to use that to get kills you're a -blam!-.

  • 07.05.2007 2:16 PM PDT

I have played in a double team game on Ivory tower and i had the sword and dropped it so my teammate could use it (i think i had sniper as well) he began a diatribe about not using the sword as it was for poor gamers and just plain sucked e.c.t.
I asked him one question "do you like to lose?"
Because that basicaly what your saying when not picking up what is effectivly a sub-power weapon, its hardly a game winner it has its draw backs.
I do though take great pleasure of being owned by this combo repeatly by the same person over and over again NOT!!
Thats when its annoying, when people DEPEND on this combo to do anything, its always an option one of many on the battlefield but in some double team variants (Sanctuary rifles, no sniping) = combo and sword are the power weapon in the game...........

what you going to do?, take a loss because of some twisted moral that you have, but your enemy will never share?

people have complained about that combo since day 1....if the weapon you pass increases your chance of getting more kills and you leave it on the ground for fear of being called a "noob" by strangers your plain ignorant...call me a "noob" but when you do i hope you say it while waiting to respawn!!!

idk how to quote things on here, but i think the kid who said "honour guys, honour" said it best lol
bxr, double shot, super bouncing, noob combo, sword, rocket, ect.
they are all ways to help win and if your not willing to use them to your advantage don't cry when someone else does and you lose :)

  • 07.05.2007 3:52 PM PDT

its a smart choice if you never want friends on live. People hate people who use the combo. In fact, I dont use noob combo at all, I out BR the kids using noobcombo by ducking behind a wall.... not exactly always a smart choice. If the majority of players dont use it, theres a reason.

Its simple and easy to use, the trick is killing the person with it and taking it for yourself. Therein lies the skill. Personally i use it when i see it. Its easy, it works, and frankly i love seeing people getting upset about me using it, and those that complain about it should stop using rockets, swords, and snipe. Power weapons like that are much simpler kills.

You don't get it do you? Your saying the combo is pointless because you, just you, can pull a 4 shot off before they pull off that 1 BR shot? If that is the case they obviously aren't that good, or did this happen once and you are recalling it?

Here's the thing... Halo fans are going to gripe no matter what. If it's not the Halo 1 Pistol it's the Battle Rifle, or the Sword, or the Rockets, or the Sniper, or the Noob Combo... and I'm sure once Halo 3 comes out they're going to be -blam!-ing about something there too (my guess is the splazer) so here's how I look at it: I'm playing to win, and if it's effective, I'll do it. Snipes, Sword, Rockets, the Combo, etc. I draw the line somewhere after "noob combo" but before button glitching and super jumping (gotta draw the line somewhere).

Point is, people are going to -blam!- anyway, so if you want to do it while they stand around and whine, then do it and they can continue losing to the less "honorable" players.

"honor" in video games... idiocy. It's a game played with millions of random people, not everyone is going to "play nice."

Thats all I've gotta say about it...

Dudes, for serious, are you people crazy?

Keep it together sisters.

If you would rather win than lose, on any map that has power weapons- control the power weapons. Its a freaking simple choice between winning and losing, and is probably why most of you lose more than you win. Not only do you need to control key map points, but you must control key weapons as well.

What would be a super neat alternative to all this power weapon jive, would be for Bungie to have just a BR and Shotgun slayer gametype (mixed in with team slayer please Bungie). Then you don't have to worry about some sucker noobing your buns, or some -blam!-e sticking rockets inside yur colon.

Stay strong, dear noobs, and get over it when I snatch me up a combo and brutalize yur buns.

P.S. I bit-ch and moan every time I get blasted with the noob.

~Show no mercy to those who are weak~

Noob combo or not it kills people so it works. I use it all the time if its there and will continue to kill people in H3 with it too. I prefer the rocket sword combo tho because I for sure win then!

i would assume it's called a noob combo because it is usually what good people teach new people to use (that way they stand a chance). But I still use it when needed. If i'm getting owned, or don't have quick access to a good weapon, i'll jumpm on the noob combo quickly.

It's less cowardly than sniping. Makes me think of the awp drags in other online games...

Sometimes simplicity works just fine. They have their weaknesses too.

Here's how to de-noob the combo. In the waiting lobby, listen to the idle conversation. If anybody says any of the following words- Noob level sword rocket cheater hacker whoring PP glitching skill lag sucky...etc., or anything else negative about any player, mute them. Even if they are on your team. Mute them. then you will never hear about anything being "nooby" or in the halo PC/CE slang, "whoring" ever again.
To improve halo 2 and cut whiningness in half-
take away "training" servers, just make ranked, player, and clan matches. Then just stay off the ranked matches because MOST people who give a crap about ranks will normally NOT ALWAYS (i said most and not always for a reason) start whining the second you kill them with any weapon or vehicle or combo or melee.
thirdly, if you dont like whiny annoying people (i could have used a multitude of terms there), then dont whine or annoy people. Don't use your microphone unless it is to discuss a strategy, or say something important. (WTF LAG! is not important. No taunting or excuses for getting killed are important. Nobody cares if you get killd)

Hope this helps.
If you like this advice, say so.
If you dont like this advice, then explain to me a better solution, NOT why it sucks and im a retarded -blam!-.

Everything was put into the game for a reason. Why the hell they put the sword in there and added so much tracking to the rockets and PP i don't know, but im sure it was important.
