i used to comlain all the time about the noob combo and the button glitches, but i stopped. there is no point in complaining, i feel bad for those who cant button glitch though. either way, when i have a chance to use the noob combo, i go for it. it gets you kills, so why not use it?

I for one think its smart play. The PP is not my favorite weapon but it is a huge advantage in TS or any other gametype. You get one up on your opponent. Whether its cheap or not, i guess that's purely objective. There are ways to avoid being hit by the PP by standing behind objects or corners that can absorb the PP, then you in turn can BR them back . If you see a guy with a PP/BR combo don't run out in the open and go head to head with the guy. Tell your teammates where he is then use team BR to take him out. Then take the PP and use it against your enemy. Another suggestion, I for one am a huge fan of grenades. Aim those suckers well, take down some shield, and kill. I also like BXR, eventhough i'm terrible at it. LOL.
you can use PP/pistol, PP/shotgun is another fun combo. There is no form of ettiquette in Halo killing. A KILL IS A KILL! who's with me?

it can be smart playing but it can also be a noob combo. lets say you are playing double team and the game variant turns out to be oddball. if your ally has the ball, it now becomes a 2-1 game and to make things a little more interesting, you use the noob combo. in this case, i say its smart playing but if you are playing team slayer and its still 4-4, then it becomes a noob combo and thats just retarded.

Because most of the time it's the international way to say "I'm a newb". Now before I get like thirty replies with "MLG USES IT! MLG USES IT!" STUFF IT! MLG is stupid. They advocate the use of that glitcy BXR slag and also said that bridging "can be fun to do to people" yeah. right. They're not sponsored by Bungie, so I don't give much attention to their constant blatherings.

Back to topic. It gets you kills but if I get newb comboed I make it a point to kill the comboer and tea-bag his dead corpse mercislessly. I make it a point not to newb combo (be it SMG/PP, BR/PP, NDLR/PP, etc.) until it's done to me first. Given I'll pick up the PP and use it as a cool melee enhancer lol. I bet if you used only the newb combo and I used everything but the newb combo I'd win pretty easily. Shadow had it right, it really comes down to when you use it. His examples are perfect, but in BTB when you have 5 out of 8 players on their team using some variant of the combo, that's when it becomes the newb's delight.

pp/br combo is like a double bladed sword. it's a blessing and a curse. If other team has rockets, snipe, sword, etc then it's a blessing for you to use it. if it's used way to much or for the wrong reasons such as you are pwning the other team and you start to use it. What's the use of that?

I don't know how its "noobish". Everyone can use it thats like saying the sniper or the BR is noobish to use. Its two weapons in a game that everyone can use get over it. You can use what ever weapons you want in halo2 in my opinion. The people with more skill or who are smarter will always win. There are plenty of ways to kill someone that has the combo.

I think the reason most players dont use it is because they have self respect.

I'm not a big fan of it, but it's hilarious when someone kills someone who has it, and sayz all kind of stuff like u take dat newbie combo n shove -blam- blam blam blam. lol 2 minutes l8ter, you get killed with the same person with it. As much as people hate it, everyone uses it.

I think it's a completely legitimate way to get a kill. That being said, however, it doesn't exactly take all that much skill to pull off.

Step 1 - Charge Plasma Pistol

Step 2 - Aim near opponent, release right trigger and watch as the plasma bolt follows your foe like a seeker missle

Step 3 - Pull out Battle Rifle, shoot opponent in head after the plasma bolt downs his shields

Rinse, repeat.

And to those who state that you shouldn't charge at someone who is using it:

Sure, that's a very simple thing to do if the guy is running out in the open holding a highly visible green ball of energy. However, a good chunk of the people I have encountered who use it don't run around the map, but instead camp.

I'd imagine that it would be pretty goddamned difficult to avoid a plasma bolt that a guy shoots at you from point blank range as you round a corner.

I mean, I'd have no gripes if the Plasma Pistol's homing ability worked like the Rocket Launcher's. Hold reticule steady over target, release when locked. At least that would give the person on the receiving a second or two to react. And it would also make the homing OPTIONAL. Too impatient to wait two seconds for a lock? Simply charge and release. That would also give the person on the receiving end a chance to sidestep the attack and even things up.

What do i care if people moan if it works its mine, better than getting pwned by it

  • 07.08.2007 6:43 AM PDT

It's a noob combo, period. There's absolutely NOTHING skillfull about charging a weapon with homing capabilities that will drain a shield in one hit, and then executing a headshot.

Gigolo.

its smart.

  • 07.08.2007 7:37 AM PDT

Smart, but still incredibly easy to pull off, thus making it noobish.

Umm using a BxR and Double Shot isn't cheating at all. For example: When some just starts to play halo they might not know about the sword lunge. Well in a sword match they'd be screwed. But thats the beauty of online. You communicate with people and let them tell you. Another example is superbouncing. The people that say its cheating are the ones who cant do it. I think superbouncing isnt cheating because it puts more tactics into the game and you have to play halo in order to learn these tricks. Now for BxR's and Double shots it's deffinately not cheating. Think of it as a made up combo in tekken. It makes the game live on and become more fun. If you cant BxR or Double shot then you have to learn from people and practice it just like anything else cause we all know how good it feels to BxR someone when you have no shields or out BR someone with a Double or even Quad shot. The "Noob-Combo" however you do not need to practice. You hold down R release over and enemy switch to your BR and shoot. There is NO skill involved. Now i dont really think its that noobish. It is considered and power weapon and can be beat in many ways just like anything else. In a Team Slayer game on Sanctuary the Plasma Pistol is considered a power weapon and they fight over that more than the sword. Just play the game and if you get killed by the Noob Combo who cares respawn and THINK about how you can stop them it makes that game a lot more tactical.

The only NOOB is the person getting mad because another player has a better advantage over him.

There's no such thing as a "noob" combo. Yes it's easier to kill people with it but that doesn't make it a noob combo. If you want to use it then go ahead and use it but it will make you no better

  • 07.08.2007 10:27 AM PDT

You're = You are.
Your = Possessive form of you.

It's not that hard.

I think what makes it so cheap is the PP's massive homing capability. I mean, in H3 the homing was nerfed like crazy, which balanced it out. Besides, using the PP/BR combo is a hell of a lot better than doing other things in the game like super jumping, double shotting, modding, abusing other glitches, etc. At least it's still a legal game tactic.

I agree with what someone said - I feel guilty using it. I whip it out from time to time, especially if it's a close game and it comes down to the last few kills, but a lot of the time I have a chance to get it, but don't.

What is better is the PP Pistol/Magnunm combo. It's still noob-y, but its harder to use (only get one shot from a magnum, not 3 like BR), which makes me feel less guilty.

The one situation where it is FINE to use noob combo and not feel guilty about it is in a 2v2 game when the other team is camping sniper platform with a sword and a sniper. That is WAY more noob that using PP/BR, and should the other team decide to camp there with those weapons, I destroy them with glee.

Greatest of all time

Lol today i was playing double team on turf and to piss them off i just kept using the noob combo and every time i killed this one guy he just kept yelling in anger as he died (best sound in the world) and it was great. I went like 22 and 7 and we won.

The guy then challenged me on his host to a 1v1 and after i went up 6-1 on using the br i just picked up the carbine and only used that haha. I won like 15-3.

Lol it was so funny.

It is nooby, however it is there. Why do you think they made it harder to use in Halo 3? Still though when I walk by it I use it--I don't walk around to the spawns for it.

It's called a noob combo because even a noob can get a kill with it.

  • 07.08.2007 7:54 PM PDT

Don't assume anything, because it makes an "ASS-" out of "-U-" and "-ME"

How about this? Stop complaining that you are get killed by a newbie because of the combo they use? If you're going to complain because someone that is "worse" than you, who's the newbie? (or n00b... seriously, who ever thought of that word is a retard). How about instead of whining to Bungie to take it away, you take the Plasma pistol away from the enemy? ei. kill them first. find a way around it.

I bet the plasma pistol was made to counter the over-shield. It's a good feeling when you kill the dude, or girl, with the upper hand.

And for those who find that it isn't fair that it takes down their defences, isn't that the point? Why the hell would you be shooting each others shield in the first place? Go complain about latency, something that IS a problem. Please do, I hate the taking cover part.
