wow guys, sudden death is a good apect of the game, just cause you were stupid and you let them plant doesnt mean its bad just keep defending if your winning and when you kill em all youll win

Funny how the people for SD are pretty much being mature about it, while the people against it are ranting and flaming...what a coincidence.

SD is a pain, but its not the reason you lost, you lost cause you let them score. If you were up 2-1, and ended up letting them score twice, then you lost, not sudden death...

SD works both ways, your team just didnt do enough to keep them from contesting it, then once they got it, they did do enough to keep you from contesting it...

It can be annoying, especially in a game where both teams are fairly evenly matched...but its never an impossible task to keep the oposing team from contesting the objective...although against an experienced team, its damned hard...its all in the strategy, we intentionally kept a game going on SD before by simply rushing their base one at a time...we never got ourselves into a group that could be killed all at once....

ok your STUPID!..play midship then..NO your wrong about if you kill them all then itll count down, IT DOESNT..they just spawn and contest in 3 seconds sp STFU...Plus SD Makes the games last for 1 hour i mean alot of ppl get tired of it and quit SO STFU..my gamer tag is grim578 if you think your better than me (you arent) add my to ur friends and ill own you!

I just got done with a game of minor assault on Midship..

we won 2-1, only in SD for about 2 minutes, we worked together to kill them all at once, the 10 second respawn was more than enough to run the timer out after we dropped the bomb in a corner of the map...

BTW, not only are you obnoxious, but you're not very smart either. You're not that high rated in any of the ratings, so to presume that you're automatically better than anyone is just wrecklessly retarded....

If you had actually spoken with any sense of maturity or common sense, i probably would play you to find out, but its pointless to play with a person like you. If you lose, you will cry about a bug or a feature or some other twist of fate that intervened and made you lose. If you win, you will act like a child and gloat like a 4 year old, either way, i walk away feeling dumber for having played on the same server as someone as mentally unstable as you.

And as an aside...even if you never get a respawn, if you lose, its because the other team is better than you, especially if you're up on them when the time comes to go to SD, because that means, not only did they score on you, they scored over top of you to win, and you couldnt defend your flag...so either way, it comes down to being your fault, not the games...

I do agree, there are other alternate soultions, the idea of the timer running if nobody has the ball IN HAND is a great idea, but until then, everyone is playing with the same set of rules, the ones who adapt and understand the rules better will most definatly win.

Well I will be the voice of reason against sudden death. I think that the purpose of sudden death was so that the game would not end with you about 10 feet from scoring the tieing or winning cap. Unfortunately the system can be exploited to make for a never ending game. I have seen my friends be down 1-0 with 7 seconds left on assualt coagulation. They got the bomb and managed to score, then had someone sitting in the middle to get the bomb right when it reappeared and they scored again. This all took and extra 20 minutes after the timer ended. Sure Bungie did not intend for people to be able to score 2 times during the sudden death period, but this is exactly what can happen.

What need to happen so that the system does not stay broken is as follows:

1. Sudden death should only happen if the score is within 1 point or tied. So if a team is up 2-0 when the timer gets to sudden death, no dice game over. You should not get 2 chances to score.

2. Sudden death should only happen if the team that is losing (or either team in case of a tie) is holding (not just standing near) the objective (bomb or flag) within a radar (or proximity voice) distance of their scoring objective.

3. If the objective is dropped they have 5 seconds to pick it back up and that is their only drop. If the objective drops again game over.

This system would not only prevent teams from being able to exploit the sudden death system, but will also make sudden death function the way I think Bungie intended it.

like i said, i agree with the fact that its not right, and i think your solutions are valid examples of what could be done to help...i wasnt disputing that, i was just saying that everyone is on an even playing feild, and the SD wasnt causing people to lose...they were losing themselves, and untill the problem is fixed, nothing we can do but just know that we are going to have to win on score, not time...

Whats weird sometimes though is when there is noone around the objective(flag, bomb whatever) but we are still in sudden death. It stands like that for 10 secs and then a flood of people come pouring out. Frustrating yes, cheating no. The system needs to be reworked. Untill it does(if it ever does) find a way to deal like everyone else has.

the things that tick me off is when they get SD for no reason.

We were playing 4v4 ranked, 1 flag on Zanzibar.

We have a good sniper so he goes out and hides along the seawall, picking people off as they come.

So we get the timer down to 0, with all 4 of them back at their base, so we think its over.

wrong answer. for some reason SD does not start to wind down, and just stays at 5 seconds.

We kill all 4 of them 5 times, yet the timer still doesnt go down at all. Mind you, at this point they havent even sniffed the flag and the gate was still closed.

Then right when they contst the flag the timer kicks on and game over, right as one of there guys grabs the flag. Sudden death lasted for 10 minutes on a round where they hadnt even sniffed the flag.

So we get our turn.We get the flag to the beach with about 10 seconds remaining, its 3 on 4 with one of our 3 being the flag guy. We get killed by the ghost running over us, as time runs out, flag being on the trigger to score. Time runs out on SD as we pick up the flag, which means we were contesting it. Total time of SD, 15 seconds.

The same thing happened to them on the next round, they got slaughtered, not even getting close to our base or the flag, gate was still closed. Boom SD again. This time it lasted 15 frickin minutes, even though they had no one even near our base. At one time all 4 of them were killed on the beach at the same time, yet the timer still did not go down. Finally it ends without them getting the flag, though they were at their closest point.

Next round for us we go and get the flag right away and score, to win the game.

No real point to this, other than to show that sometimes SD activates for no reason.

Can't you just turn it off? I'm pretty sure there's an option in the custom game options. But wow, everyone needs to stop -blam!-ing about it, it's not that bad.

You noob lol you know why the countdown didnt change? cause u were near the BOMB!! which is called bomb contested when you are near the bomb the countdown will not change until no one is near it and when you get near it sudden death appears again and gives you 5 seconds, now stfu noob
