I've got a fan!
desolation is probably the worst map in Halo history. It's biggest flaw is having the ramps to the second floor and the lifts up being on the exact same side. If there was a way to get up top on all 4 sides of the map then yeah, it'd be a good map. It may seem like a small flaw, but it makes me want to scream at how hard it is to get to the second floor alive.
Tombstone isn't much better. Not only is the middle WAY too exposed, making it nigh impossible to walk a bomb across alive, let alone effectively score a flag, which is usually done by touch-and-throw methods.Blue base is rediculously closed off, having only 2 ways to get to the top, and nobody ever uses the platforms to walk across. IMO, the lift should have lead to an extension of the lower floor of red base. I'm talking about it going into that little computer room, or a bigger part of that, so whenever someone hears the whoosh, the guy going up doesn't get grenade raped.
The mpas are alright for some games, but they needed a lot more thinking going into them, instead of pretty much an exact copy of the originals with a few tweaks.
The maps were good for Halo 1, because you could actually walk out in the open because there was no BR. There was a pistol, but that was easily avoided because it did 1 shot a t a time.
