Well I think it's a bug anyway...don't castrate me if I'm wrong. Basically, towards the end of the level (I think) after a large battle between brutes and elites/hunters, and many empty corridors I come to a 'plasma' walkway. Normally when you step on the blue sphere it makes you travel across the walkway to the other side. This time it does not. If I walk onto the walkway I fall down to my death. I've tried walking on the girders to below the walkway but can't jump up on the other side. Yes I've tried rocket jumping with the fuel rod cannon- to no avail.

Basically am I being REALLY stupid here and missing something or is this some infuriating little bug that's stopping me from completing the game. This is the first time I've played through Halo 2's campaign and was rather enjoying this section (unlike the abysmal beginning), so it's a pity if I'll have to give up here.

Dude, you have to kill everything then go up to that door. You probably went through that one door the moment the hunters did, it locks.


This is assuming we're talking about the same part.

No I'm talking about the bit after cortana says 'it'd be best if you avoided this battle' or something along those lines. It's this light bridge after a load of empty passageways. It's just SO annyoing not being able to get to the other side of this bridge lol.

KK, I'll try it!! Bit silly of Bungie to really include Cortana saying to 'avoid battle' if you have to kill everything!!

Well, just tried killing everything but to no avail :-( . After I killed everything in the main room, Cortana mentions detecting 2 other lifeforms. I then killed the cloaked elites and honour elite who came in from behind. But still the bridge just won't activate. This must be my 20th try in getting the damn thing to work!!

I wish there was a gravity gun or something so I could make my own stairs up to the other damn side lol......

Well it looks like my Halo 2 playthrough is holed up until M$ stop lounging on their piles of cash and get an update out. It's amazing how they delayed this game so much and it still comes out as a buggy, un-optimised mess.

After you kill those invisible things, you should be able to go through the locked door and to the nxt level.

Thid happens in the xbox version too, I don't think its a bug, just another part to the game thats not supposed to happen.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

You didn't kill all the elites.

I've played this part many times, and I haven't had it happen to me.

User error.

It's not a door I'm trying to get through, it's crossing the actual bridge, it just won't let my 'shoot' over to the other side. I'll scour the level for any enemies I've missed though just in case. Fair play if it's my fault, I just think it's poor game design if it doesn't explicitly say KILL EVERYTHING lol.

(Edit: Another weird thing is that if I jump on the bridge spehere it makes the noise that happens when you 'shoot' across the bridge.)

You are supposed to just enter the door that the 3 elites came through (The two Spec ops with Camo and the Honer Elite) and just keeeep walking.

Yup I finally managed to fix it lol. I was going the wrong way *slaps forehead* all I had to do was just wait inside the big room and the cutscene started around a minute after I killed the last elite. Still it's a bit random that they left a load of empty passageways after the big room.

KK anyhow sorted, just finished the game ^_^
