What is up with the sign at the water on zanzibar now saying (just for today 7/7/07) 'You finding Ling Ling's head?' I'm just curious as to whether it's just the bungie team planning it while the game was in development, knowing Halo 2 would still be being play-ed on Bungie day and using it as a little surprise. Or is it them just being wierd as all hell? Or am I missing something? Just a post to try to find the origin of Ling Ling and how he lost his head.
Ling Ling is a dog's head in a jar Bungie keeps in their office. When the jar finally breaks they will make a sequel to their first game ever, a pong clone named Gnop! .[Edited on 07.07.2007 9:02 AM PDT]
This is a well known easter egg. People, knowing Bungies favourite number, changed the date on their xbox to see if anything would happen, and found this.
it was purposely put in there by bungie as a little easter egg. i think it happens every year, not sure. apparently on halloween you get a pumpkin on the sign, not sure though.
thanks guys, that helps clear it up a bit, plus it's a good story. a dogs head in a jar? crazy.... but i would do it too.
There are several special signs that appear if you set the clock to bungie-related things. Halo fansites like High Impact Halo and HBO have lists of these things.
