I admit that i was really upset when i learned that Bungie had been bought by MS, but in the long run i think it worked out for the best. They made alot of money, which is a good thing, even if it means you don't have to own a Mac to play their games, and it doesn't look like being apart of a corporate empire has hurt the quality of their games so far.
I did notice that the feel of Halo 2 has definately gotten a little more "packaged," however. The longer cut scenes don't feel typical of Bungie's older work, though cinematics might have been too demanding to be practical on their older platforms - the long opening cut scene of Halo seems to suggest that extended cut scenes are something that they were gravitating towards. Also, the whole hidden skulls thing isn't like bungie at all. What's next, cheat codes and unlockable characters? Not cool, bungie, not cool.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Who are you to judge Bungie? You dont know her...

Hmm... lemme see.

The _only_ thing Windows brought to the table was a GUI. Wow. When it comes to functionality and security, it's dead last.

Linux, OS X, FreeBSD. They are all far superior.

So you're saying it's NOT easier to code for an OS when you can access the kernel through DLLs, and don't have to recode menus and stuff every time?

Oh, and I just have to ask: How do you think Microsoft became the top seller of operating systems if it's no better than any other?

marketing my friend i could sell you a pile of dog crap for 100 bucks if i marketed it rightl.

Interesting you say that. Bungie used to hate Microsoft, but they had to let MS buy them out to stay alive. Bungie, since it's now owned by Microsoft, can't quit.

Bungie could quit whenever they wanted to. They just won't want to. And really, Bungie was doing swell before the "most egregious sellout in the history of the known universe" (as Jack Miller from As the Apple Turns recently referred to it in passing). Bungie didn't get Acquired™ so they could "survive". And anyway, Alex started out working for Microsoft when he founded Bungie.

I suppose they could quit, but Microsoft would still own Bungie and all their franchises (Except Myth and Oni, owned by other Evil Corporation, Take 2.) That defeats the purpose.
Anyways, you say that Bungie wasn't "acquired" to survive, then why did they get "Acquired"?

By the way, didn't a certain The Man steal floppies from a certain giant, Evil corporation when he quit?
