Play at your own pace. Avoid stressing during games.

My biggest piece of advice is have fun with the game.

how do you become host?

  • 07.07.2007 8:57 PM PDT

Just prey on the enemies by camping, it'll surprise them and you should be able to have a kill, unless they have a present for you.

Focus, don't get angry. Now, you want to co-ordinate with your team mates well, always stay with a buddy. I would suggest getting your good friends and party up going into match making. Learn from your mistakes and just make sure you keep getting your aim better. Beat the game on Legendary, you will get good reaction time ; )

My last thread: Why Reach Sucks

<3 Foman

Just concentrate, think of what you could have done differently any time you die. Learn the spawns. And watch pro vids, you will learn tons. And not montages, full games.

Improving your tactics will help a great deal. Don't get me wrong, raw skill and hand eye coordination are very important, but a sharpshooter who's a poor tactician will lose everytime.
It's a lot easier to tell you to be more tactical, but kinda tough to explain. First and formost, it goes without saying to avoid wide open spaces and stay behind something as often as possible. Make sure to pick the right weapon for the job, shotguns and smgs for close quarters, BRs, and carbines medium range, and snipers at distance. DO NOT engage an enemy who is better armed than you without a backup. DO NOT go anywhere without a plan; know where you are going and why you are going there before the game begins.
Past all that stuff, in general, the most important thing is to know the location and bearing of your enemy as much as you can. You know, throwing a grenade at a corner because your radar just told you there wa a dude there. Next is to be aware that your enemy is trying to keep track of you too. Even small little things like alternating between sides of a column might buy you just enough time to get those last rounds out of your BR and kill your opponent.
I hope some of this got you thinking, HBO did a great job of putting together a guide like this a couple years back, try looking for it for more help.
Good Luck out there!

Nope. I can't be banned - I wrote the code for the site.

]Have you been banned Achronos?

aim for the head. the head is the weakest part of the body, so work in getting good at following a players head as he jumps and dodges and such.

get good with the battle rifle and the other weapons. the battle rifle is the most overpowered weapon in the game so if you get good with it, you will own, provided you aim at the head because 4 headshots from the br kills an opponent. get good at sniping and using the rockets and sword. with sniping it basically takes practice. contrary to popular belief, it is actually good to move around when sniping, except of course you are in the hot spots of the map. because if you kill a person from camping in a spot and do not move, that person will know you are there and come at you from a different angle to kill you.

another tactlic that i use when sniping is quickly looking over the map from where i can see it while not zoomed in, then if i see something moving i zoom in in that spot and snipe. with the rockets try jumping up and then shooting at the ground below the feet of the enemy. with the sword do not, i repeat DO NOT run around with the sword out all the time. doing so will only make your enemies back up and shoot you instead of running into you. the best thing to do with a sword is crouch walk around in close quarters or hide around corners, or if you are in a more open area, keep the sword as your secondary weapon, then if you are shooting someone, run closer to them, only to pull the sword out at the last second for a kill.

get good at knowing the hot spots of the map. knowing these only comes from experience, but once you know them, then always check in the hot spots for enemies.

using cover is key. never run with your back exposed to a large part of the map. what i do is run up against a wall while angleing outward to watch for enemies.

once you understand the map layout and get good with specific weapons, then you can work on choosing which weapons would work in what situation. so if you come upon a dilema where you have the choice of the sword, sniper and rocket launcher that you choose the best ones to fit you situation.

now for some teamwork:
-never hog both snipers, or multiple power weapons.

2 people with 1 power weapon is more efficient than 1 person with 2 power weapons. they are evenly distributed, and being used instead of one being inactive for a while.

-communicate with your teammates

if communication is key to a relationship, what does it do for halo? by communication i mean strickly buisness. no "chit chat". call out the enemies and if possible if they have a power weapon. if you find yourself with multiple power weapons, dont be afraid to ask if someone wants one.

-work together

it is called team slayer for a reason. 4 people working alone is not effiecient as 1 team of 4. coordinate attacks and stuff like that with your team

-stay near your team

dont try and over do it. dont charge into all 4 of the enemies by yourself because you will not be able to kill all 4 of them. instead, attack as a team. in addition, to find likely places where the enemy is, look around where your teammates are, and the enemy is most likely in the places where your teammates are not.

further thoughts

-if you cannot win a battle, retreat. as the saying goes, "live to fight another day". if you spawn with an smg and you try to take out someone with a br, dont. retrreat and crouch if you have to. too many times have i seen people die when they tried to finish a kill instead of retreating and letting thier sheilds regenerate. which reminds me, it is a good idea to get cover when your shields start beeping at you.

Boiler Up!!
Go WINGS!!
Go Lions!!

basically practice just like anything else. If you do any sports that will help with hand eye stuff which will help you a lot too. but practice is the key when you play you start to learn the best ways to start matches, flank enemies, and know when to retreat. do not, DO NOT let people who say you suck because you ran from a fight get to you, if you get more kills then them you are better. also things will become second nature like knowing when to drop back and reload and where to look for people. remember as well halo is for fun be a gracious winner and a humble loser. if some1 starts talking smack pay no attention and know you are the better person for it

Oh yeah, get used to and internalize the exact amount of time required to regenerate your shields. When you get good, you can move from cover the split second before your shields recharge and have that much of an advantage, maybe enough time to finish of the guy who dropped your shields before his have come back up!

to get better at halo, you must go OUTSIDE and exercise daily, eat nutritious foods, hang out and hang out with friends and do social activities.

Im sure your just rollin in the -blam!- with your smart ass comments... Why is that I always see you not helping? Why couldn't you just give him some advice? Why must you make a smart ass comment?I've seen you in other threads too... all you do is sit on a halo forum and -blam!- and moan...and voice your opinion on a subject you know nothing about (im reffering to some of the MLG threads you've posted in) and now your saying he needs to get a life... says the kid whos always -blam!-ing on a halo forum. Everything out of your mouth is -blam!- negative. Seriously, -blam!- off.

As for how to get better, play MLG. It takes the most skill and watch alot of VoD on MLGs website. http://www.mlgpro.com/ Look around there and watch VoD. You have to make an account though (its free)

this tip helped me get to a 40 easily on my old account. PLAY AS MUCH TEAM TRAINING AND RUMBLE PIT(or any FFA) you will get soooooo much better.
also play custom games like no-scopes and MLG and stuff like that it helps. get better at sniping as this is the main power weapon in the game. use lots of grenades. learn your shortcuts and grenade bounces. dont be afraid to use the n00b combo either. camp. buddy up(usually pair up is best) help out your teamates. remain calm. you dont always have to shoot for the head you can give him 3 body shot and then 2 head shots.(that will finish him[only if your good at double shot]) if you get host use it to your advantage as much as possible. but the number 1 and 2 most important things to do to get better are...
1.strategies. no matter what the skill level of the players if you have good strategy you will win.
2.comunication and only go into MM with a party of 4.(they all should have mics)
