I was just wondering why not so many people play this game. I bought it thinking the online community would be somewhat strong but I have never seen any more than 57 servers online and less than half had people in them and even less than that had a playable amount of people in them. Halo 1 has more servers than this every day! So...why aren't people playing!?

Edit: Do you think it will get better? as in do you think more people will start playing anytime soon?

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

If you're talking about Halo 2, I can't even get it working. If you're talking about Halo CE, I guess most people either don't know or are too lazy to get install another game and get involved.

Plus people dont want to buy a whole new OS just for a game. Once Vista becomes more mainstream, it'll have more players.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Problem is that once Vista becomes more mainstream, I question whether people will go back and buy the game at the current price.

Microsoft missed a huge opportunity by not bundling the game or giving customers a better deal for buying both Vista and H2 at the same time.

Currently, the biggest obstacle to H2V saturation is the ridiculously expensive cost to get into it. Vista costs money, the game costs money, and some would argue that without a gold Live membership, the game is somewhat crippled.

The game needs to become significantly more affordable if people expect a big online community. Whether or not it is even a good enough game to draw in players is another matter altogether.

The whole H2V launch has sorta been a slap in the face for Bungie. They didn't put nearly enough effort into the port considering the price, and PC gamers who generally are much more savy than console gamers aren't buying into the hype. Price the game at 19.99$ and lets see what happens. The game is probably only worth 20-30 bucks considering it is a port and all the awesome cross platform features as well as DX10 hardware support never materialized.

Bungie doesn't see gamers any more. They see walking credit cards.

I'm not gonna buy a whole new operating system for a game. And I decided not to play Halo Vista when I heard you can program double shot, excessive shot, ect. to keyboard macros.

That and most ppl look at review on a game before they buy and to be quite honest this game has had nothing but bad reviews from most sites including this one, with good reason i might add.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Halo 2 Vista is a great game.

I love the people who hate on it without even having played it.

Well, comparing h2 vista to halo 1 pc, i think there are many reasons why h2v vista has such a small community.
The first reason that tops everything in the list (IMO) is that the ONLY way to play multiplayer halo 1 over the internet was to buy Halo PC.... but halo 2 for xbox HAS multiplayer support for live.

I think many of the people that purchased halo 1pc already had the xbox version. They wanted to play it online, and they also wanted access to the weapons/maps/vehicle in multiplayer.

You have very little reason to buy h2 vista if you already have h2 for xbox. Most of the extra maps in h2 vista are already available in the xbox version via download over Live.

And no, I don't think it will get better. Once halo 3 comes out I think we'll have even LESS players than we do now... unfortunately i don't have a 360, so I'm stuck here.

Steam: RageRunner32 | StarCraft II: RageRunner | Lets play Pc sometime :)

<3

I would buy it if it had more of an online community. Halo Pc has over 1000 players on at one time and from posts like these it seems like Halo 2 Vista has less than 100

Vista only = strike 1
Jacked up items in port = strike 2
hired gun not communicationg with the community and letting them know that a future patch is on the way to fix issues = strike 3.

This game was a loss leader to get people on the Vista band wagon. M$ could give a rats a ss if they make money off this title.

pretty much... if only it didn't suck so much... as in have all the old glitches and such

I'm only going to consider this game for if I'm on a LOONG road trip with a laptop to play single player for a little bit... but not much besides that lol

I'd rather have BioShock then

Because it's a horrible port, where they have spent far more time trying to shove their imperialistic pay-to-play LIVE architecture down your throat than they did making a good PC version of Halo 2?

In short, Bungie blew the release of H2V big time.

Bungie had nothing to do with the H2V release. It was all microsoft and hired gun.

You don't even need to program a double shot. The BR and carbine shoot as fast as you can click your mouse or the 360 controller.

- Note, that's split up so that it's allowed :)

It is a terrible port! On highest quality with 4xAA it uses up to 512mb of GFX memory...assuming you have it. That's just wrong. There's so many better games like F.E.A.R., Half-Life 2, Quake 4, Doom 3, etc...that I can run on medium to high quality and still get a good framerate. Note that I have an ATI X300 GFX card, a 1.73ghz Intel Centreno Processor, and 1GB RAM....all on a laptop...and Halo 2 was unbearable at low quality.

Well, what do you expect running below minimum requirements?
