IMO, i think by adding a views right next to replies would help a lot because then people can see what threads are getting the most attention. it sure wouldn't hurt anything and i think by adding it would be very beneficial. what's your input?

Not a bad idea, I suppose.

I don't really see the point of views. In the forums that do have them, they're always proportional to the number of replies, and here I think that it's no different. To see which threads are receiving attention, just look at the number of replies.

I don't see a point to it. Sure, it'd be another feature to list off as Bungie.net having, but I don't think that having a view-counter is necessary or "very beneficial". You should judge a thread by it's content, not the views. You may like a thread that doesn't get many views yet you may hate one that gets many. All I am saying, is give threads a chance. Usually post count is enough to determine whether a thread is worthy for reading or not because if it isn't, then people don't usually respond and if it's a good thread people will respond. Also, the thread name is usually a good indicator because if a thread is titled "OMG I IS TEH 1337SAUCE!!", you pretty much know it's a crap thread, and, unfortunately, the thread creator is also an indicator of a good thread or not because some users tend to post in a more... spammical manner than others.

I couldn't agree more RP, for me it is all about quality, not quantity. As RP mentioned, you can have a thread that is absolutely horrid, but may have very many views, I think the number of views compared to number of posts is truly different, to decide whether or not all those posts are there for a reason (As, again RP stated) look at the title and who posted it. Again, quality not quantity. Meh, I hope what I said was understandable, if not just read RP's post, that's how I feel atleast.

Read about the Forgotten Spartan I Program
Butane: To protect the world from devastation!
sir_brilliant: To unite all people within our nation!
Rainman89: To denounce the evils of truth and love!
sir_brilliant: To extend out reach to the stars above!
SpaceGhostFlyer: Jessie!
Butane: James!
sir_brilliant: Team Rocket blasting off at the speed of light
Butane: Surrender now or prepare to fight
sir_brilliant: Meowth, that's right!

To paraphrase the mantra of our new Ant overlords, this board is supposed to be about quality discussion, and because that is our goal, things like emoticons, number of views and post counts will never see the light of day on B.net. These 'tools' add nothing to the discussion, and therefore have no need on a board set up for the sole purpose of discussion. I could care less how many people viewed a thread; that has no impact on what's inside. I do care how many posts it has gotten, because that at least hints that there is discussion in the thread. I care even more about who has posted in it and who started it, and, most importantly, what it is about.

In summary: number of views does not equal quality of thread/provide for new discussion.

I'd prefer a characters-per-post average.

I get pissed off in the Xbox forums when I have 50+ views and 1 reply. But, this only happens when I have a problem that need s to be fixed.
