The only way this game can be fun is if you a Freakin' Super Computer.
Not really, it plays fine on my rig and its far from a "Freakin' super computer".
The game isnt all that bad you just need to have a halfway desent rig is all, lol.
Hmmmm. I think the problem is that folks who consider their rig to be "halfway decent" find Halo 2 Vista running poorly.
Halo 2 isn't a new game. The graphics, compared to UT2004 or Half-life 2, aren't very impressive. I don't have a top of the line PC, (AMD 64 3800, 2 GB RAM, 300 gb HD, 6800 GS SLI, and OEM Vista 64 bit Home Premium), but it can run UT 2004/HL2 smoothly at 1440x990 with the ingame effects maxed out without stuttering. Halo Vista, with my current rig, won't do over 1280x1024, and it looks pretty "two generations ago" graphics-wise, and it doesn't run very smoothly, either. There's no way for me to even get a widescreen resolution, leaving me to grenade, -blam!-slap, and rocket squished looking enemies.
That's what a lot of folks like me can't understand. Why is the Halo 2 Vista graphics performance so poor for some of us compared to other games like UT2K4 and HL2 that easily run at relatively high resolutions on the same machine with the same OS? Given that Halo 2 was developed initially for the original Xbox, why are so many folks with PCs much more powerful than the original Xbox getting so little out of the Vista version? Considering the minimal graphical overhaul Halo 2 was given, a PC that runs those other graphics-intense games should run Halo 2 Vista with ease. Yet, frequently, it can't.
What's up with that? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? <taps the microphone> Is this thing on?
