Just recently added the RAM, which helped a ton, but made it very apparent that I'm in need of a video card upgrade. Anyone got an 8800 they're throwing away? ;)

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

My comp is incapable of running Halo 2. The only thing it meets the minimum requirement is in RAM.

Ok, I'm insanely retarded when it comes to computers, so I'm probably about to embarrass myself, but here goes.

Windows XP Home Edition
AMD Athlon XP 3200+
2.20 GHz, 448 MB of Ram

And that's all I know!
God, I feel stupid.
But, alas, boredom + busy disk drive = no gaming and lots of forum posting.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (939 socket, unfortunately)
Memory: 2 GB PC 3200 : (
Mobo: ECS KN1 Extreme
Video: XFX 7900 GS
Sound: Creative Audigy Sound Blaster SE : (
PSU: XION 600W
Case: XClio... can't remember the model... it has two 250mm fans on the side, and that's all that matters
Monitor: 19" Viewsonic LCD, standard (4:3) aspect ratio, 8ms response time

I may just scrap the CPU, Memory, and Mobo around Christmas and go with Intel this time, since it looks like LGA 775 socket will still be around a while longer, and AMD switches socket types to quickly. Anyone know how much longer Intel is going to stick with socket LGA 775?

Slaying noobs since 2007.

I think they plan on keeping it for a few years, right Static?

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

Well the earliest 775 chipsets don't support core 2 duos and even less support core 2 quads. Just because it's the same socket it doesnt mean it will be compatible. It has always been this way with intel.

Frog Blast the Vent Core!

I think this would be the best place to post it.

I'm (attempting) to build a computer good for H2V and other games. I need input on how good the system might be, or if it would even function. :x

Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 Allendale 2.0GHz 2M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor

Intel BOXDG965WHMKR LGA 775 Intel G965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard

COOLER MASTER Centurion 534 RC-534-KKN2-GP Black Aluminum & Mesh bezel / SECC Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Thermaltake W0106RU Complies with ATX 12V 2.2 & EPS 12V version 700W Power Supply 100 - 240 V CE, CB, TUV, FCC, UL, CUL, and BSMI certified

AMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD403LJ 400GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

MSI NX8600GT-T2D256E OC GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card

Adds up to be about $800, which I think is a pretty good price. Though I am nowhere near a hardware expert. Does this seem like a good system configuration/could it be cheaper?

Now, my computer is a $500 Inspiron 1501 laptop, with a Raedon Xpress 200m Series Video card and AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology MK-36 2 GHz Processor. Halo PC runs at about 50 FPS at 640x480 with everything turned up. H2V runs about 13 FPS on 800x600 on low with nothing else. Which is why I want to upgrade to a desktop PC.

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help out.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

It's a piece of -blam!-, considering it only works in one or two apps. It's just taking up a pci-e slot.
