Get over it people. Halo 2 has the best hosting system out there with the least bit of lag. Upgrade your own connection and pipe down. Sometimes you get host and sometimes you don't. Sometimes you win, and sometimes the other team has a better game. Move on to the next one, and stop using offhost as an excuse for losing.

Actually COD has less lag and better hosting.

Just out of curiosity, what it is it that makes you decide that everyone else's experience with network issues is equal to or better than yours?

It's a game people shouldn't really care if they win or loose. If you play a video game, you should play for fun, and if your playing for fun winning or losing dosn't really matter, sure you can brag to your friends for a day about how you got your killamanjaro and running riot. But chances are they have gotten one to and we all get host and we all lag. Its just a game, you win some you lose some.

Well, sometimes I get frustrated by the slight delay and the game becomes less fun because of it.

That is a sign of taking it too seriously. There is no reward or consequence for a single game, so just move on. If you are not one that blames tag for losing, then I am not talking to you. I am just sick and tired of the lag whine that stink up these forums and the post game lobby in MM. If you listen to the people that I play against in MM, I have not won a game becuase of skill, it is always becuase I am host. That to me is just annoying.

Actually, I don't recall inviting someone who doesn't even suffer such latency problems to lecture me on them. I asked what made you decide that everyone else's experience is just like yours, apparently giving you free rein to comment on it. Keep that arrogant and uninformed attitude to yourself in future.

Rythm, you need to let your mind understand the words before you reply again. AS LONG AS YOU ARE NOT USING LAG AS AN EXCUSE YOU ARE FINE WITH ME. Beyond that, I even have compasion for you if you do, "suffer from latency", as you put it. Unfortunately, there isn't much that can be done about that, it is part of the game. Those that use it as an excuse are the ones this thread is in regards to.

Sorry JROCK, that sucks, but you do not strike me as the kind that wouold blame performance on bad game host? Would you?

Rock, you are absolutely right. I am NOT saying host advantage doesn't exist. I am pissed as you showed that people use it as an excuse and then come back and talk trash after clearly using it to their advantage. I am calling for MM minitourneys. MM playlist with a mix of slayer and skirm where the same team playe best 2 out of 3 against every matched team. At the end of the game you stay in the lobby for one more game, new map, random gametype and play again. Of course in this playlist the host will alternate team randomly.

Sound like fun?

What about if your team doesn't get host 10 games in a row?

I am hoping that everytime you choose rematch it randomly selects a host from the team that did not have host previously. This is for the rematch button. If it were a playlist Host would switch every game regardless.

Also...Halo 2 is 1 of 2 games I know of where host IS something worth complaining about. Inversely, I can think of 4 games where host has no advantage and there is little lag, even with more data transfer.

What are they? I have not played every game but am under the impression that, despite the constant -blam!-ing in these forums, Halo 2's system is pretty good. I know for a fact that GoW and R6V are ten time worse. Name a game that has at lease 8 seperate users in a single game that has less host advantage.

BTW, that is not the point. The point is to eliminate it's use as an excuse for losing, add a rematch button or have a playlist that flips host and you play the same team again. Please stay on the topic, I don't care to argue about whether or not the host is bad or good.

Unreal C 1, Unreal C 2, Star wars Battlefront 2 (with 32 people), FEAR even.

You can't tell who is host in any of these and the host's name is even displayed!

P.S.

Your topic is a discussion about complaining about host, I think its perfectly reasonable because host flat out makes the game uneven. My point with the non-lag games is that Halo 2's host system is NOT all that great.

Those games suck, noone plays them. Stop complaining about the host advantage, it really isn't that bad altogether. You are the kind of person that drives me nuts online with your, "you had host" bull-blam!-!

How would you know if people play them if you've never played them?

RIP Halo 2.

Host can often be enough of a factor to determine the winner of a game. If someone wants to sit back and abuse host BR or sniper, that can be the factor that decides the game.

Never eat yellow snow, unless of course, you spilled your Mt. Dew!

Above all things I wish people were not able to "see" who has host. That just adds wind to the flame. I for one never look to see. I never know if I have host except for the games when it is the first thing a teammate says to start a match. "Hey General's got host." Don't tell me. I don't care. Maybe I have been fortunate and don't deal with lag issues all the time. I did have issues when playing COD 2 right when I got the 360. What I hated most was when the host quit and the game was done. I want to finish whatever game is started. At least with Halo 2 it will assign a new host and the game can go on. I haven't played COD 2 since the first 2 or 3 months I had the game but have been thinking about giving it another try. I loved the graphics, realism, weapons etc. Something pretty to keep my attention until H3.
