I'm gonna start work on getting a PHP version of this done using fopen/cURL. Then we'll have more than one option to use if people want to mirror it.

While that's noble of you, remember that the load time for that page will be around a minute and a half. You'll probably end up using more bandwidth than you want to.

It'll have 2 separate scripts. One that will go and check every 5 minutes (or something like that) and one that retreves the data from a database. I realised I forgot to add one thing to what it's going to use and that thing is cron jobs.

Ah.

If a server supports cron, wouldn't it support shell scripts as well? What would you be using cron for if you can't call scripts or custom executables? If you think it's worth it, then by all means go ahead. What web host do you use? I'm curious.

EDIT: Well, I guess you could call cURL to download your PHP script. That would make sense.

I use a host called 000Webhost. It's only a free host, but it offers some amazing features and 100GB bandwidth. They don't support shell scripts from what I've seen on their features page or in the cPanel.

Hello.

Jmh, on the Moderator Stalker, both Chris and Goweb have 0/0/0 as a date and 0:00 as a time. Why is that?

Your Moderator Finder evolved into a Moderator Stalker! Hooray for Pokemon references!

Duardo asked a similar question on page 4. The answer is the same, so here it is:

Is there a reason why JAF is at the very bottom?

When the site spits out an error page instead of a moderator's profile, as it does every once in a while, the last time and date that they posted are nowhere on that page. I rewrote the code that parses the profile to register a last posted date of "00/00/0000 00:00" when it can't find the words "Last Forum Post:" anywhere on the page. Previously, it just hung there until I manually came and restarted it.

Anyway, since 00/00/0000 is before any real last posted date, the program will put it at the bottom of the page until the next time it updates it.

Thanks for your hardwork, but what exactly is the mirror application? I never got to take a look at it before it went down.

It's a backup server hosted by burke9077 (halofreak33) of BungieHQ.com. He built a server out of an old laptop, but it failed after about a day. Then, he left for vacation, so he can't do anything about it until he gets back.

Thanks. I deleted index.php while I was taking xTr1GGeR HaPPYx off (hopefully just temporarily). Something went wrong with the way it was being output so I just decided to delete the file and wait for it to be recreated with a fixed build.

Just a little update on the Bnet User Stalker (currently codenamed uStalker after the greatest BitTorrent Client ever -- PM me if you think you have a better name):

I'm definitely making progress -- I was able to dynamically create a page using parameters set in a text file. I'm very close to a working production build.

It may have something to do with this...
When I saw it in the early morning, it showed him as a ninja and I said to my friend on MSN, "Why the -blam!- is this guy a ninja?!" and sent him the link. When he checked it a couple minutes later, he was but a Legendary Member. Now, he's down to Heroic.

edit: With that sorted out, it's time we stop talking bout a specific user before this thread gets locked. =]
