Tarturus is the name of the Greek hell. It's the part of Hades where the evil are punished. I was just reading a book on greek mythology and I found that, and I immediatly thought of the now dead Brute chieftan. I wonder, did bungie pick the name simply because it sounded cool or is there some sort of meaning behind it?

I remember reading about this almost 3 years ago now. Ya, they did use that name on purpose from what I remember.

They related the brutes to Barbarians in halo 2. In halo 3 they're suposed to be more advanced. Bungie is relating the Barbarian's to the hell's minions, cause ther are crazy, Bungie always has a reason.Tarturus is the crazy part of hell so[ hell's minions=crazy, brutes=crazy] so hell's minions=brutes
