Is bouncing considered cheating? I can never get a straight answer to this question.

Yes, it's a glitch in the physics in the game and is ground for being banned on xbox live (although rarely enforced due to widespread "acceptance" from players)

How come they incoporated it into the game then? It doesn't seem right to consider it cheating if it was bulit into the game in the first place.

I found this :
Quitting a game is not a bannable offense. Having a team-killer on your team sucks, but that's not a bannable offense either. Many people are also aware of the "super jumping" phenomenon that allows players on some maps to jump to extreme heights. We are monitoring this situation for long term impacts to game balance but we are not banning people who do this simply because it's too widespread and is something that's basically built into the map. Anyone can do this if they want to though it is difficult to pull off in many cases. We will continue to monitor the impacts this bug has on our game.

Under the CHEATING section on the bungie site

So since it is so wide spread it is not bannable?? agh
Well if it is now the site should be updated

Ostrich I really wanna sig you, but need some fresh stuffs.
So make with the funneh.

Bitch don't tell me what to do.

We just had a thread like this yesterday and then a ninja came on and said it was cheating and you will get banned for it. Then he locked the thread. So yeah just be safe and dont do it. Its stupid anyway. Takes the fun and the skill out of the game.

I know you already know this, but for all others who still think it was incorporated. GLITCHES AREN'T INCORPORATED INTO THE GAME. THEY ARE NEVER INTENTIONAL. HENCE THE NAME GLITCHES.

would you have liked bouncing if bungie put it in the game?

  • 07.11.2007 2:50 PM PDT

there are sooo many other ways to do superbounces then just that one,

I will ask my question again for i am curious the answer though if Bungie put superbounces in the game so they are no longer glitches would you like them, nothing changes in how you do them, everyone can do them JUST LIKE THEY CAN NOW (sorry for typing in all caps but I am really tired of the pal- 50 myth), would you like them and do them

The cheating FAQ only REFERS TO THE BANHAMMER. Superjumping/bouncing IS CHEATING.

The only time I even try a superbounce is in custom games with friends. If i'm in a game with random players from matchmaking I don't unless the other team does it.

I do take issue with one point. I don't buy the statement that super-bouncing is an unintended glitch. Considering that the terrains "off map" are usually fairly detailed and contain detailed shelters it appears more like something the Bungie programmers and designers put into the game intentionally for their own enjoyment. If they wanted only playable portions of the map to be in play they would not have incorporated physics into the off-map portions. Without the physics of the game the off-map surfaces would not be usable. PLUS they probably wouldn't have written readable text onto the map surfaces that are only viewable off-map.

Besides, with very few exceptions the superbounce surfaces make you a sitting duck once someone realizes you are there. It's almost suicide considering that the other player will go to great lengths to kill you for doing it.

I agree that it's un-sporting but I don't find it any more of an advantage as the so-called "noob-combos" such as PP/BR or running around with the laser-sword the whole game.

There is a reason I am user ID 1 and my account creation date is before this site came online.

Prove that PAL-50 is a myth...until then, I think I'll go with the dozens of people that say they can't do it, one of them being the Overlord of this site.

Go to you tube type in Pal 50 superbounces its really quite easy, I am sorry but you and the overloard of this site are wrong on this subject, there are many sites you can go to that will show you that there are pal-50 superbounces I am sorry that you are mistaken, I have already emailed you a message stating these very same things.

Or you know you can just ignore me like you did my email and go with your dozens of so people I will go with the truth though.

I have also been in many custom games where people are doing pal-50 superbounces.

I am sorry but the myth of not being able to superbounce on pal-50 is something that people just spoon fed you and you are just gullible enough to believe.

You can keep saying they are, but that's not proof. I'm tired of arguing with you on this subject, because from my experience with people with PAL-50's they said they can't, but if they switch it to PAL-60 they can.

Until you can offer proof, and that's not "youtube" vids, you're still wrong.

Here's my opinion though. How about you spend your time doing something beneficial or productive than defending cheaters. Just a thought.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Button glitches, or "system manipulation" are defined as cheating according the the xbox Live ToU. The Bungie.net CoC and ToU forbids discussing or advocating cheating on these forums. Ergo, this thread is now locked.
