Snipers? Easy. But only if you're dealing someone whose brother wasn't an actual sniper in the military. Call me Socrates, 'cause I'm about to get all dialectic on y'alls!
The most obvious drawback to the sniper rifle (in Halo, but not elsewhere) seems to be the trail it leaves, but there are many ways to get around this, or even use it to your advantage. First, distractions and smokescreens (usually plasma grenades thrown over or away from your target) may draw the enemies' attention long enough for the trail to dissappear. Second, a good sniper is never camps longer than two shots--one to kill the target, and another to kill any of his (or her) buddies that may have seen you; after two shots, if you're not gone, you're toast. The best utilization of the trail is as a decoy, however. Let your enemy see it, let them go right to your little corner, and have your team prepare a tasty grenade surprise for them...with any luck he'll bring his friends too.
As for sneeky folk who have a tendancy to give campers a friendly pat on the back, the easies way around them is to use the buddy system. But, if you find yourself flying solo, stand with your back next to a wall (NOT a corner!), change your zoom often, and always check your flanks. There should never be a time when your scope isn't changing zoom and your view is not moving...and I mean never!
As for taking out a good sniper? Well, the usuall 15 ppl at my LAN parties still haven't figured out how yet, so the world may never know...
