http://www.bungie.net/images/games/halo3/screenshots/H3_MPAlp ha_SnowboundCarnage.jpg
vs one of the screen shots relaces not to long ago
http://www.bungie.net/images/Games/Halo3/Screenshots/H3_fores t02.jpg
the main thing that caught my eye in teh diferance in teh shots was the texter on the armor in the first pictuer on snow bound it was much more detailed.
i most sertanl agree that grapics are no every thing hell i stil play a lot of marathon and god knows its not up to todays stadnerds
(can som ene lazy link i can never get the coding to work)Achronos has explained many times that the texturing on the armor is an aesthetic choice that the game's artists made because they think it looks better when in motion in the game environment. It is not "reduced-quality" graphics. You must realize that grittiness does not equal high quality graphics.
Indeed, in the pictures you linked (links fixed above), the lighting, shadowing, and detail on the environment blow me away. As far as the art style goes, that is a matter of personal preference. I will not lie -- I have ALWAYS preferred Halo's "clean" look over the "grittier" look of many war games. I prefer it for many reasons. But I think that it is a huge mistake to say that graphics depend on grittiness.
Now to keep things on topic and appropriate for this forum instead of Halo 3, it appears that you think that Bungie is lying to its community by releasing screenshots with different textures on the Master Chief. I must respectfully disagree. Bungie has gone to extreme lengths to say "subject to change," "pre-Alpha," "subject to change," "Alpha Build," "Beta Build," "SUBJECT TO CHANGE."
If the artists thought that MC would look better with cleaner "plate metal" rather than the "cast-iron/concrete" look, then what you should be doing is marvelling at the fact that the artists actually had the ability to implement both of those options and then to make that decision. Not talking about how the graphics are "lower-quality" because they chose one aesthetic option over another. That's just silly, my friend!
